I believe the homosexual lifestyle is wrong. Let me say that first. I am a Christian who believes that God ordained sex and therefore marriage to be between one man and one woman (That includes the bible guys who had more than one wife. God never really blessed that.)
I also believe in small government, that the less involved in our lives the government is, the better.
If I don't believe the government has a right to tell me where to worship, what to read, where I can send my kids to school, and whether or not I should have them vaccinated (another topic for another day), then why should I think they have a right to tell people who they can and cannot marry? In my opinion, having the government legislate for family values is no better than having them legislate against them. Either way, the government is still telling us what to do in our own lives and families. The only exception to that (in my mind) is abortion. Murder is wrong, whether the victim is at one month after conception, one month after birth, or one month after their hundred and eighth birthday.
The only hesitation I have in voting for gay marriage is this: I am a minister. My only fear is that the next step will be suing ministers who won't marry gays for discrimination, in effect killing our right to freedom of religion.
