I believe the homosexual lifestyle is wrong.  Let me say that first.  I am a Christian who believes that God ordained sex and therefore marriage to be between one man and one woman (That includes the bible guys who had more than one wife.  God never really blessed that.)

I also believe in small government, that the less involved in our lives the government is, the better.

If I don't believe the government has a right to tell me where to worship, what to read, where I can send my kids to school, and whether or not I should have them vaccinated (another topic for another day), then why should I think they have a right to tell people who they can and cannot marry?  In my opinion, having the government legislate for family values is no better than having them legislate against them.  Either way, the government is still telling us what to do in our own lives and families.  The only exception to that (in my mind) is abortion.  Murder is wrong, whether the victim is at one month after conception, one month after birth, or one month after their hundred and eighth birthday.

The only hesitation I have in voting for gay marriage is this:  I am a minister.  My only fear is that the next step will be suing ministers who won't marry gays for discrimination, in effect killing our right to freedom of religion.

You have the right to make your opinion, but sound like to me your strattling the fence, You say you a christian, I  just can' t pinpoint at this moment in the bible, now don't get offended, but God speaks against homosexuality, yes though shall not kill is one of the 10 commandments. But on the other hand, There's nothing we can do about the goverment but talk, they gonna do what ever they want to, We got to remember that God is still in control, He's has more power than the government. I'm aware of all the politics and everything that is going on with economy, but you know what me and family living in peace, I don't worry about it, Its sad whats going on, but I put it in God's hand a long time ago.  Please don't get upset with me. I was just responding to your post, feel free to send me a message. Be Blessed.

Just a comment since you are in TN. What "vote" are you referring to? The only one that I know of is coming up in Nov for CA voters only to ban/overturn gay marriage. I'm hoping it will not be overturned myself, but also agree with less government.

Personally, I believe religion should not be a consideration in government, EVER. Separation of state and church, and all that. I also believe that for that reason, you shouldn't have to worry about getting sued. Whether or not gay marriage is legal, you will always have your freedom of religion, and therefore the right to refuse to marry gay couples. All they are looking for is the legal right to get married, not the "religious right", if that makes sense.

I applaud your logical approach to the subject though, I wish more Christians would be able to see it like you do.

I am referring to the inevitable ammendment to the constitution (either state or federal) that either allows gay marriage or defines marriage as between a man and a woman.
