PLEASE NO my 3 month old daughter kicked herself off the a stay at home mom and im here all day just me and her and i had to take a bathroom break so i let her play on her playmat on the couch like i always do..(i dont put it on the floor bc i havr hardwood floors and 2 dogs and they will run all over her). She was lying up and down so im guessing she kicked her self off since rolling of isnt an option...she didnt cry and when i came back in the living room she was just lying there looking around...i about had a panic attack...i scooped her up and just started crying...i feel like the worst mother in the world...i should've never left her alone like that. i called my husband as soon as it happened and he told me to calm down she will be fine just dont let her go to i tried to keep her awake and she refused and is now sleeping should i be concerned that maybe it caused brain damage or something..she is my first and i am just so scared i would feel even worse if this somehow causes brain damage please help

Jul. 12, 2008 at 4:19 PM Don't worry, I think this happens to most moms at one time or another. My son rolled off the couch when I went to go get him some food one time and we had hardwood floors that were slanted so he rolled, lol. Funny now, not then. If she was not crying then she is probably okay and as long as she is breathing well and reacts if you poke or slightly punch then I would say she is fine. Just make sure you watch her and chalk this one up to lesson learned :). Message me if you have more questions.

Jul. 12, 2008 at 4:19 PM First, just relax. How did she seem before she fell asleep? Was she out of it or did she look dizzy or pale or anything? If she was acting like or normal self and wasn't crying or anything, I wouldn't be concerned. Check on her frequently. It happens to everyone at some point or another. If i were you though, I would invest in a gate for the dogs so she can be on her mat on the floor. Harwood floors are ok as long as there's a mat down.

Jul. 12, 2008 at 5:04 PM Aww!  It's okay :).  My hubby smacks the kids' heads in doorways all the time when they are babies (not intentionally, of course!), and my daughter fell out of her carseat at Walmart when she was 5 months old.  That was my fault entirely :).  But, aside from being insanely stubborn at times, they seem no worse off :).  I bet she'll be fine :).  And just a suggestion...  why not put a blanket under her playmat on the floor?  It'll provide a bit of cushion.

I completely know how you feel. When my daughter was ten months old, she fell flat on the back of her head from the kitchen counter onto a hard floor.  The counter is about waist high ot so.  She acts just fine and is now 12 1/2 months old and she is my first also.  I've had plenty of these instances of her falling off the couch, etc.  I flip out too.  You're so not alone!!  But I'll be praying still!   God bless you and that sweet little one!  ~  Rachel
