Some of Hunter's first words were in sign. He still uses 'bath', 'eat', 'milk', and 'bed' pretty regularily
I have to brush up on my sign language skills so I can teach him more!
Thanks for sharing-this was great and I hope others see this and use this in all different situations. --I adopted a teen who would communicate through spitting and ripping items--because that is only way he knew how to communicate and so immediately we started teaching him adapted sign because he wanted to talk to us --I had no clue where this was going to go--He was a GO GETTER and determined (because due to state complications-it took us a while to get a communication device and he has cerebral palsy) (we also utilized pictures-but the adaptive sign was good for him to have when he didn't have his pictures) He is now up to about 80 or so adaptive signs and using his communication device and very little or no spitting and ripping. He is amazing!!! Thanks again for sharing
