I know, I know. I'm a fitness coach. I motivate other people. Surely I'm motivated as well, right?
Not really. Not anymore.
BUT I am determined. I do have my "Why" which is always in front of me.
I hit a family crisis around mid-May and had to focus all of my energy on that for about a month. Then I was traveling. So my goal became maintenance. And I maintained. But since I've been back it seems that no matter what, I'm still not losing. Now I'm getting discouraged. It's hard to stay super excited when the needle on the scale isn't moving at all.
That's where DETERMINATION comes in. I determined that I would hit a size 14 by the time DH and I go away to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. And if for some strange reason I don't hit that, it won't be because I've cheated or not given it my best. I have a GORGEOUS dress hanging on my closet door, in a size 14, and I WILL wear it. And for Christmas, I'm going to fit into my ancient size 12 cute black pants that I've saved for over a decade because I loved them so much. And by Valentine's Day I'll be in my dream size 8 .... these are my determinations. They are measureable goals that aren't based on emotions.
So it doesn't matter that I want to throw in the towel. It doesn't matter that I don't feel like I'm making progress. It doesn't matter that I'm tired and emotional and want to eat an entire chocolate cake right now. Because those are feelings, and feelings change. What does matter is that I WILL press on, I WILL meet my goals, and I WILL daily assess my progress. I WILL lose the double chin, the final fat roll, and 90 more pounds for a total of 105. Those are statements of fact. So that's why it's important to DETERMINE your future, not just hope for it. Hope can be fleeting, but determination can outlast it!
Comments:
I wish I could have that same outlook. I am the type where I need to see results NOW or I get so angry I quit. I dont have that "determination" button in my body!
Keep up the good work!
