The chicken pox that the boys have is completely different than what the girls had.  In a way I am thankful, but I hope it means that will not get it again.

The girls started on the belly and then went everywhere.  They had big blisters did not feel good and were constantly itching.

The boys on the other hand are different.  Theirs started on their feet and hands and groin area and moved from there.  They only have a few blisters, hardly itch and have lots of red spots like a rash.

Is this due to the vaccine making the virus weaker over time.  No of my children have been vaccinated for the chicken pox.  What is the difference in the virus between now and 7 years age when the girls had it?

Jul. 14, 2008 at 12:21 PM I have no idea. Abigail never got it (she had the vaccine) even though over 50% of her friends who had the vaccine got it anyway. The boys' pox started in their hair and on their neck and spread to the rest. Both had a lot in their groin area and almost nothing on their limbs. Timmy's was even spread over most of the covered areas and neither boy seemed that miserable at all. (No fevers--just itching).  We had friends whose kids had it at the same time and who we got it from that looked far worse. maybe it's just the way their immune systems fight it. Who knows.

I wouldn't think so - it's just each child is so different. My oldest Granddaughter supposedly had the pox 4 times! I found that so hard to beleive, but I guess it is possible.

My one daughter only had a couple blisters & the inside of her mouth. The others were covered. Two itched - one did not.

It's also how the child handles discomfort! Some are real whiners while others just deal with it...

Glad to hear it wasn't too horrible of a weekend for you!
