I'm pretty tired, so I'll keep this short. Day 1 of potty training actually went better than expected.
OK, so I didn't know exactly WHAT to expect, but before today, I was haunted by visions of pee coating every floor and every piece of furniture in my house, Alyssa somehow getting traumatized by the experience so that she feared the potty, and me working until the wee hours (pun intended) of the morning, just trying to catch up on my job responsibilities.
In reality, it was a pretty good day. I set the kitchen timer for every 45 minutes, then took Alyssa to the bathroom, where she sat on her Dora potty seat, picked out a sticker (which she liked to stick on my face), read a book or two, and ate a Skittles candy. She pointed to Boots, Dora, and Backpack on the potty seat, had a couple of conversations with her rubber duck, and when she decided she was done, she pulled up her Cinderella pull-up, washed her hands, waved, and said bye-bye to the toilet.
No, she never did actually "go" in the toilet. As I was getting her ready for her nap, though, I noticed she was straining, so I asked "Are you trying to go poo-poo?" She nodded.
"Do you want to try to go poo-poo on the potty?"
Again, she nodded.
So I picked her up and raced her to the bathroom. I sat her on the toilet, and she played with the wipes dispenser on the side of the tub for a while. Then, she farted, laughed, and declared herself "all done!"
Sigh! Oh well! Tomorrow is another day!

Good luck with day #2! What made you decide to start trying? I've been watching Zac for the "signs" but he shows no interest so we continue to wait.
i bought jacob one of those seats today and hopefully tackle it in 3 days. i have to set it up in a toilet he'll use constantly in the house. i'm going to buy him under wear and trainers tomorrow.
