Each day this week I am feeling better!!! It is a joyful thing when you feel so weak & run down, and then begin to feel better! I haven't been able to be at church for almost 2 wks. & have missed several special services that I really wanted to be there for. Yesterday evening the Lord sent me the sweetest blessing. It encouraged me so much, and to the point that my husband knew something had happened when he called me to let me know that he was on his way home from work. So, what happened? Well, a sweet, Christian lady, whom I admire greatly, came over & brought us supper. I was so grateful for her doing this. She is one of the best cooks I know too! But what really touched my heart is that she is 88 years old, and she drove to my house by herself!!! She is a precious member of my church family & consistently lives out Titus 2:3-5,
"The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." !!!
We are so blessed to have her! Her wisdom & love for the Lord just blesses & inspires me! I was so humbled by her not letting her age stop her from being a servant of our Lord. What an example! We also had the best visit! The Lord knew I needed the visit even more than the food! I don't know about others, but when I am unable to be at church it deeply affects me! I need to be there! I am refreshed, recharged, & renewed in a way like no other when I gather w/my church family & worship our Lord, sit under the teaching & preaching of His Word, & draw strength & support from Christian fellowship! What a wonderful blessing God has given us through His Church!!! I am planning to go tonight & looking so forward to being there! After she left, I just sat there, weeping, as I praised the Lord for her servant's heart & example & asked the Lord to help me be a blessing & servant to others the way she demonstrates in her life. One of my favorite scriptures came to mind!
2 Tim.2:21 "If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. "
What a blessing for a child of God to be described as His vessel of honor, sanctified & meet (complete) & prepared to be used by Him! How wonderful to be known as one who's service to the Lord brings Him honor & glory! This Lady fits the description! She lives out this verse w/her life! My prayer is that one day my life will reflect this verse & bring my Lord honor & glory! I love the song, "I want to be a legacy." by Nicole Nordeman. After being diagnosed with cancer, I began to really evaluate my life & what would be said about me if the Lord were to take me home soon. I am not saying that He is, just if! I realized that earthly accomplishments aren't important! Having a degree, a "sucessful" career, a slim & trim body, ect..... is not important or a priority for me! I want to leave behind a testimony of how Great & Loving my Lord & Saviour Is! I want my life to have Eternal Value, not Worldly!
