First, thank you to Mary and all you nice ladies who read my previous journals and left your advice and sympathy. You are the best!

Now lemme just sum up today in one word - Ugh!

I had heard about potty training by putting the little one straight in underwear, but right now, the "big girl panties" are reserved for evenings and weekends when I'm not working. Unfortunately, one of the detriments to being a work-at-home mom is that there's just no way possible I can stop work and take time all day long to clean up Alyssa's messy accidents.

As it is, my work days drag on forever because I lose an hour and a half of production to Alyssa's daily swim lessons, and on Thursdays, I have to make up an additional hour when I sign out for Alyssa's speech therapy sessions. *Sigh!*

Anyway, I decided I would go ahead and try Alyssa out on panties tonight. I put her on the potty, where she played for a while, then declared herself "all done." I held up 3 Hello Kitty panties for her to choose (she chose the one with the heart) and put it on her. Two words - baggy butt! LOL! Oh well. It's not like I expected Alyssa, who fits 18 month size shorts perfectly, to properly fill out a 2T/3T size brief!

After we washed our hands and left the bathroom, I decided to start dinner. 5-10 minutes later, I heard Alyssa give a little whine followed by "Mama!" I looked toward her, and she had let the flood gates open! Not only was she slipping and sliding in a pool of pee, but she had travelled across the kitchen while she peed, creating a river of urine! So off we went to the bathroom, to clean up, sit on the potty, and try on a second pair of Hello Kitty underwear.

The next 30 minutes was spent:
- Mopping up Lake Urine and the River Pee from the kitchen floor
- Rushing with Alyssa to the potty because she indicated she had to pee
- Singing songs and telling Hello Kitty stories while Alyssa sat on the toilet and DIDN'T pee
- *Trying* to prep dinner (I swear, it took me over 40 minutes to make a simple pizza and put it in the oven!)

During one of our very long bathroom visits, in which Alyssa really didn't want to leave the potty, my mom called...again...and again...and again...and AGAIN! Since I didn't want to leave Alyssa alone on the potty, and I didn't want to force her OFF the toilet, I didn't answer the phone, which freaked my mom out a little bit.

Finally, after about 15-20 minutes in the bathroom, Alyssa again declared herself "all done." Again, we washed our hands, pulled up the panties, and made the attempt at dinner. I called my mom back, and was explaining why I didn't answer the phone, when Alyssa walked into the kitchen and said "Eh! Mama!" then pulled at the front of her panties.

"Do you have to go pee-pee?" I asked.

She shook her head "no," then led me to the living room, where she pointed to a wet spot on the carpet next to the toys she was playing with. So back to the bathroom to get cleaned up, sit on the potty, sing songs, tell stories, wash our hands, and put on the third pair of Hello Kitty underwear!

Again, I had a puddle of pee to clean up (the carpet puddle wasn't as easy to clean as the hardwood puddle!) and I STILL hadn't finished cooking dinner!

But tomorrow's another day, right?

I'm sorry Laura, but I had to laugh. Reading this took me back to the days of potty training both of my kids. Even though Jade wasn't that bad, Arthur was :o) Keep you chin up. It will get better.

I can totally agree with you Laura due to Mirandas medical issues we still aren't potty trained and working on it I am using pull ups for this reason I cant spend all day scrubbing carpet but she is getting it we go every hour no matter what and try and in between I tell her to feel her pull up and tell me if it wet and if it is then off to the potty. I dont even know where to start with the overnights.

Bless your heart!! You are a trooper that's for sure and you are still able to find the humor in all this!!!I laughed out loud when I read your day 3!!! Belle will sit on the potty and pee and even pooped on it for my sister in law but as far as going on a regular basis we have a long way to go!!! I am waiting until August when she is out of summer preschool and reg preschool to get her potty trained!!! I give Belle 1 M&M for peeing in the pooty a good way to bribe her into trying. However I am getting her checked for diabetes since she drinks and pees constantly and even her preschool teacher is concerned and I don't think it is all in my head anymore(I have been concerned for sometime-she has been peeing out her diaper overnight since she was an infant).Belle is talking alot more but still not saying much I ama going to address that when I take her to the Dr too.Anyway Hang in there and good luck!!!Elizabeth
