So, one day while we were driving around town my five year old daughter shouts, "Can we go eat at 'Kisses'?!"  I had no idea what she was talking about.  So I asked her what she meant.  She said, "Well, you eat food and ice-cream there, and they have a big kiss on their sign with a D and a Q."  I looked in my side-view mirror and saw we had just passed Dairy Queen!

Angel thought the Dairy Queen logo looked like a kiss!  Isn't that hoot?

But wait, it gets better.  I sent this story to International Dairy Queen, INC.  And I got the coolest thoughtful response from them via snail mail.  AND I'll share it with you.  :)

"Dear Ms. (my last name)

Thank you for taking the time to contact International Dairy Queen, Inc. (IDQ) and share your cute story with us.  We truly appreciate it -  you've just brought a smile to so many faces here!

Kisses!  That is a great way to view our DQ "ellipse" sign as it really does resemble a kiss. :)

Just a bit of history behind the DQ ellipse - the DQ Logo was unveiled in 1961.  Red was selected for two reasons: It was more eye-catching and it denoted food and warmth, which better complemented the food programs then under development.  The Ellipse, a free-flowing form that replaced the oval, was chosen for its uniqueness.  It was described as a graceful, natural shape that conjured up thoughts of leaves and freshness.  It's lineaments resembled a diamond, indicating quality.

Thank you again for contacting us.  I have enclosed $5 in DQ gift certificates that you and your daughter can use the next time you visit kisses!"

It was signed by the Consumer Relations lady.  Anyway, isn't that so cool?!  I had no idea!  I just thought it was a hoot and a half and thought someone at DQ should know.  lol.

I think it's so awsome  she sent me such a thoughtful reply.  It wasn't just a canned message, someone actually took the time to read my short story and send a thoughtful reply.  I just think that's the bees knees!  :)  It just warmed my heart.  :)

How awesome! Laminate that for Angel so she can keep it forever. That's so cool! And what a cute little story! My boys used to call Mr. Goodcents "The Thumb place" (or would just hold up their thumbs) for a long time!

What a cute story!

Jul. 18, 2008 at 7:26 PM My 5 year old used to think that everytime we pulled into the drive thru at the bank that we were at McDonalds. Everytime we did she would say "I want fries and chicken." to the teller. It was soo cute.

thanks for sharing...I would much rather spend my money on a company that takes the time to listen to its customers and it sounds like DQ is one of those companies....
