Luke passed the carseat test but had several events after.                 They also did another sleep study that showed more events and then on Friday and Saturday he had more events.   He gets to day 4 and then all hell breaks loose.

I am annoyed at the nurses too.  He had an even the other night while I was there.  he was sleeping in the bassinet and his o2, heartrate, and respiratory rates all dropped at once.  The nurse was like oh hes having apnea and the other nurse was like theres 5 more days buddy.   THEN I spoke with the nurse the next day and there was no event recorded.  So I talked to the NICu doc and asked her... what HAS to happen when they record an event and explained to her what happened.  She said that should have been reported and that nurse was wong to have not reported it to the docs.  Then she reviewed the monitor and pulled up the event and said oh yes that does count and so does the one he had today.. the nurse had not reported that one either.  then I started to wonder how many days he acutally has had events and the nurses for whatever reason hasnt reported them.

So now we are back on day 1 of 5. this will be round 4 or five day trials.  Hopefully he will be good and come home this time... but who knows?!?!

I just want him to start breathing like he should and stop having th events.  The one he had when I was there was one of the worst ones hes had.  His o2 dropped to 84 and his heartrate dropped to 77. he self recovered but it was still really low.  OH and the same nurse that didnt report that event also told me that he was having such shallow breathing that she had to stimulate him by rubbing his chest... and she never reported that to the doctors either...

Everyone can see this journal post.

ozark...
Hang in there. Just keep pushing the nurses to report all of this. Just remember he can't speak for himself, so he needs you to speak up for him. I wish you well.

I would be reporting these nurses that are NOT doing their jobs correctly!! Poor Luke is trying so hard and it doesn't seem to help when these nurses aren't reporting his events!  I am still praying for you and him!!!  He will get past all of this and will be your most snuggliest child ever!!
