My morning in Coffee Hell.

This morning, I had woken up a bit late. Yes, 8:15 is sleeping in, late for me. With three kids, all under the age of ten, I am usually up by no later than 7:30.

Scott had to work over. He is off today and has a personal day tommorrow. Then, another day off on Tuesday. Last night, he could not leave until everything was stocked and sale items for the week put in to the feature area.

The reason for him being so behind is that while he was on vacation, his "help" got hurt while exiting the big freezer in the back. The guy slipped on a patch of ice and hurt his tail-bone. He won't be back until this week or next.

Well, because of all the extra work, Scott didn't get home until two this morning. Now, he has not worked third shift in quite a while. So, I am no longer used to being home alone past midnight.

Yep, I had stayed up waiting for my hard working man. He went in at 1:30 yesterday afternoon. And he didn't leave until a quarter to two. We only live about ten minutes from the store that he works at.

This morning, I had planned on making a small pot of coffee for myself. Just enough to get the brain started and peepers to see straight. Then, cook the kids an egg breakfast.

Let's just say, my morning has not turned out as planned.

After getting up, I had washed a few dishes. I noticed that the kids were playing on the swings. Without permission to be outside, mind you.

Then, I had finally noticed that there was already coffee in the pot. Too much. I really wasn't planning on making that much. I knew who made it. Hayley, my oldest daughter who is eight years old.

My fatal mistake...

Making that first cup of coffee. With my usual two and a half t-spoons of sugar and some whole milk. Then, I took a sip and almost got sick.

The coffee was so strong, it would have brought a big, bad biker dude to his knees. My eyes about buldged out of my sockets.

Then, I looked in the filter area and had seen that waaaay much too much coffee was used for was measured out to be a seven cup coffee pot of joe.

Well, I took and threw away the filter with the used coffee and rinsed the filter bowl out. Then, after putting back on to the pot attatchment, I poured another four cups of water in to the water area. I ran that in to the "coffee from hell".

Now, my coffee is how I like it. But, most of it will be going down the drain. I honestly don't drink java past eleven in the morning.

Hayley knows that I appreciate her thoughtfulness and that I love her for wanting to "help" my morning to get it off to a good start.

Although, I let her know that from now on, until she knows exactly how I make the coffee, that she is to wait until I am up and right there to supervise as she makes the coffee for me.

mom0f...

I hope so to,lol. We are thinking of taking the kids to the local park today.

My daughter is smart. Smart enough educationally, that she has been deemed gifted by the state and school system.

But, there are times where I think that her book smarts outweigh her common sense cells. LOL!

Guess you are awake now, lol. Why not set it up the night before so she only has to turn it on.

Jillysmom, I may just do that. Then, I won't worry about having "bug eyes" from the FIRST sip. LOL.

I was always so nervous making coffee for my parents when I was a kid because my dad is very particular about it.  He likes it strong (our other family alaways complain when he makes it and my aunt makes special batches just for my dad that are double strength when we visit her).  I'm glad the kids don't have any need to play with the coffee maker.  My dad is the only one that drinks coffee and he makes a huge pot one morning and drinks it over the next two days (heating it in the microwave) ick.

And the late working nights...been there.  I always stayed up waiting for my husband, too.  He used to work all sorts of crazy hours and pulled more doubles then I can count.  He would leave for work at 5am and not get home until 10:30-11pm when we lived in PA.  And he would do that 2 or 3 days in a row, then work his regular shift (6am-1pm) then have one day off then work a double on his day off then a few 12 hour days then regular day then take 1 day off.  It was insane.

That really was so sweet of Haley to want to help you out  , BUT on the other hand I sure do understand your " Coffee Hell " issue....Uggg nothing worse then waiting for that 1st cup of joe and it doesn't turn out right.....

I have mine all set up the night before & one pot is set on a timer , the other pot is one that is set up and ready to just pour the water in when we do get up ( if we are dragging that morning/night )..

Get yourself a bunn coffee maker they brew fast and it's......Ohhhhhh so good!!

Heres to no more coffee hell days.....lol.... Coffee 2 w/ Milk hummm can't find the sugar!
