So yesterday, on top of all the annoying birth certificate stuff, we still had other things we planned on doing. Tuesday night is my Bible study night (moms and teachers from my son's school) and also the night that they show family friendly movies in the park. We had already decided that Joel and the kids would go watch "Bee Movie" after having pizza for dinner. I promised that I would try to get there before the movie started to help with the kids, so I ended up leaving before my study was half over (it had been an 1 1/2 hours, but sometimes it takes us a while to get started). We ended up having a great time because the kids loved the movie the first time, but hadn't seen it since, and it was the first time Joel was going to get to watch it. We got home kind of late (the movies don't start until after dark) and the kids were tired and sweaty, so in our hurry to get inside, Caleb nearly steps on a toad. No big deal, right?? Obviously you have not met my children, Caleb doesn't like anything that isn't a pet, and amphibians do not fall into "pet" category. We keep him quiet, and let Lizzy watch the toad hop away (they have always been this way, she is fascinated by icky, he is not). After we lose the toad in the darkness, Caleb stumbles over yet another "toad" but he tells us that something is wrong and it is fuzzy. Joel comes over to move it (it isn't moving itself) and taps at it with his toe (inside his boot, hence the reason I didn't try to tap it as I was wearing flip-flops). Suddenly a wings flops out and we realize that it is a bat laying in our driveway. Needless to say, both children rushed for the door (bats don't fall under any category except "yikes" apparently). The excitement over for the night, we finally got the kids into the shower and then into bed by about 11pm. So yesterday ended up being a very busy day.
Oh yeah, the hospital will be paying for the change on Lizzy's birth cert. So now I just need to send in the one I have and get a new one. Hooray!! I'm almost done!!
