Do I have pink eye? FALSE ALARM (update in replies)

In the middle of the night I woke up and couldnt fully open my eye because a little hardened eye buger was holding my eye lashes together.  I go to pick it off of course and man it was really stuck on there and it hurt when i pulled it off but I didnt think anything of it.  Then it started gushing next to it and it felt like blood but i knew it wasnt of course so was like whatever and went to bed.  Now Im awake I had more hardened eye bugs on my eye lashes and my eye is swollen a little.  Ok that sucks I go and walk over to the mirror and my eye is pink.  Now I have been awake for about 20 minutes and Its bothering me like I want to keep tugging at my eye lashes so it will stop bothering me.  Ive never had pink eye so I have no idea what its like. Its like kinda itchy to.  Is my eye just irritated or is it pink eye?  I have pink eye stuff in the house from when Rilee had pink eye and her doctor said we could use it to if we got it but I dont want to use it if I dont have to but I dont want to wait and it get worse I will not leave my house with this ugly eye as it is lol.  What do you ladies think?!

If you have breastmilk, put some on your eye.

If not, use a chammomile tea bag, wet it with warm water, and use as a compress on your eye.  Keep it cleaned, don't touch it, and change your pillowcase daily.  I have never used medicine for a pinkeye, and have never needed to (I have had it 2x and my son has had it 2x). 

Fresh air and sunshine is great too.

Jul. 24, 2008 at 9:18 AM I had it when I was a kid. I also know it is contageous so it probably would be best if you didn't go out in public today any way. If the medicine works use it. It will get better so much faster. Although you might call your doctor and find out how long you are contageous for.

Sounds like pink eye... If you do use your daughters medication make sure to wipe the applicator with alcohol first because some of the germs from her pink eye could still be on the tip and you could just makes your eye worse... I have also heard that breast milk cures pink eye- like the poster above stated- but have never tried it myself.  The good news is that pink eye clears up within 7-10 days whether treated or not, the antibiotic just makes it less contagious in 24 hours.  GOOD LUCK!

i'm going to go with yes, you have pinkeye.  my son is just getting over it.  if it's a viral infection (most common it probably is) then you just let it run it's course, there is nothing dr. can do for you.  just keep your hands clean, dont touch ANY one or thing if you've touched your eye.  if you start running a fever then it might be bacterial and then you'd need to see the dr.

I've never had Pink Eye, and Rhanyn hasn't either.....BUT I have had similar problems with allergies!  Allergies can really irritate your eyes, cause them to run, itch, turn red, and crust over at night as well.

Maybe try one of the home remedies one of the other ladies listed above....but if it gets worse I'd go ahead and get it checked out.

Well hadnt looked in the mirror in the last hour and I got up to check and my eyes are WHITE again PHEW!  Thank you ladies for your advice at least if I ever do get pink eye I will know home remedies to do!
