Yet again we get screwed by the government and not in a good way. Matt was forced to resign his job because of military duty and now he doesn't qualify for unemployment because he "voluntarily quit." I don't make enough money to support our family and Matt's training to go overseas so he can't even go job hunting if he wanted to. We had no idea this was going to happen and I just bought a brand new car that I could afford before this happened but now I'm not so sure. I'm really scared that it's gonna get repo'd and my credit is gonna get shot all to hell. The military pays for training but that's only here and there so it's not steady income. I really gotta find a better job. I have a freaking Bachelor's of Arts in Communications for crying out loud and I'm stuck selling shoes because we can't afford to move where the jobs are and I can't afford the commute. I feel like I'm in a lose-lose situation. I'm seriously losing sleep over trying to figure out how to pay bills. I've never been this broke before and I'm scared. Hopefully this is temporary cause if not I don't think I can handle it.

Sorry, I missed that line- but I'm still confused. If he only gets paid for training here and there, does that mean he's home and gone and home? In that case, he should still be able to work while he's home in between training and he shouldn't have had to resign. They can't make him resign and they have to give him leave for military training and hold his job for him.
He's in the National Guard so yeah he's home and gone off and on but he's not home long enough to get a job right now. He's only home for a few weeks at a time and then he's gone for a month and then home again. He worked as a civilian for the military so they knew his circumstances but they said he'd be able to get unemployment so as a courtesy he allowed them to terminate his position.
Oh that sucks, they totally screwed him! They just told him that so they wouldn't have to hold the job for him while he's gone. There must be someone he can complain to. They should know better.
We're filing an appeal with the unemployment office but it takes 6-8 weeks for them to process it and it's been since April that he's been w/o a job and it's taken them this long to tell us he's ineligible. Our savings is dwindling fast and I have no idea what we're going to do whent that's gone.
That really sucks. Have him talk to Family Support (or whatever the national guard equivalent is- I'm a former Air Force wife so I don't know the lingo for NG), and see if they can help him. His old job really ought to give him his job back, but since they were sleazy enough to lie to him to begin with, I wouldn't be too hopeful. Hope things work out for you!
I hope everything looks up for you guys! Everything happens for a reason and maybe this is just a REALLY TOUGH test for you guys! I would say hell with it and make the move anyways! There's NOTHING in that area for anyone and regardless if you have the money right now you need to do it somehow. You can't stay broke forever and you didn't go to school for no reason, ya know! Also, if it does come down to it... don't let the car get repoed... if you find that you can't pay it on time for 2 months or so, call the finance company/bank and voluntarily give it back to them. Instead of it looking like a repo on your credit it will come up a late payment. My husband and I had to do it when we were in your situation! Good luck with everything Hun!! *BIG HUGS*
Oh and when the car place calls you about your late payment let them know your sutuation and you are trying to get through it and give them their money. Some will be nice about it and understanding... others will be complete boneheads. But definitely give it back voluntarily and it won't look so bad.
I know how you feel, my car got repoed a few weeks ago and my dad was going to give me the money that i owed them(1600) and when i tried to call them and explain that i had just gotten a job and everything they were completle jerks and said that i would have to pay 11000 to get the car back, so i ended up getting a 97 subaru legacy wagon for 1950, so now i actually own it and have the title so i don't have to worry about anyone taking it, i hope everything works out for you, that really sucks that they screwed you guys like that, Anthony's job told him back in january that in march he was going to get a 5.00/hr raise, and guess what, he is still waiting for that raise, company's suck :-(
