I've talked a few times about my involvement with Fandom Rocks, and our connection to the CW Show, Supernatural.
As part of hat, we're having a charity auction on eBay to raise money for this campaign's charities, Invisible Children and WriteGirl.
Invisible Children is working with the people of Uganda to provide support for the child soldiers and night commuters, those who spent the night time running and hiding from the rebel leader and his army. This war has lasted 22 years, making it the longest in African history. Right now in Uganda, children sleep huddled together in public places like bus parks, in packs by the hundreds, to avoid being kidnapped and forced to join the war tearing their country apart. They cannot attend school or even hope for a future, because they are too busy trying to survive today.

WriteGirl is a nonprofit organization (based in Los Angeles, CA) for high school girls centered on the craft of creative writing and empowerment through self-expression. Through one-on-one mentoring and monthly workshops, girls are given techniques, insights and hot tips for great writing in all genres from professional women writers. According to the information on their website, 100% of the girls who graduate their program go on to college, most as the first in their families to do so.
WriteGirl is the charity nominated by Sera Gamble, writer for Supernatural. Sera has been credited on fifty-nine of the show's sixty episodes. (The only episode on which she is NOT credited is the Pilot.) Sera has been a WriteGirl mentor in the past, as well as a supporter of Fandom Rocks.

We at Fandom Rocks haven't released our complete list of donated items for the auction yet, but I will say having seen it that they include once in a lifetime, unique, AUTOGRAPHED items, many donated by the signers themselves!
Fandom Rocks has recently been certified by Mission Fish, which works with eBay to certify nonprofits to allow them to use eBay's existing auction system to increase their donations without the burden of eBay fees. We are certified as a not for profit corporation in the state of Illinois and are working on our federal 501c3 certification. We run our campaigns six months at a time: each campaign supports two charities nominated and selected by people just like you. 100% of our donations go to our charities, a record MOST non-profits cannot match.
We want to raise $1500 in 30 days. Given some of the things we've collected to auction, I truly believe we'll make it, but we need your help.
So if you're a fan of the show Supernatural, a sci-fi fan, like one of a kind collectibles, want to help support two great charities, or these charities just move you, PLEASE consider checing out our auction come August 1st. Donations are also happily accepted via our website, www.fandom-rocks.com/donate. You can also donate to the charities directly - just please email us afterward to tell us the amount so we can include it for our campaign total. (A quick note to the charity dropping our name doesn't hurt either. They know we're working to collect funds for them.)
