What if abortion became illegal?

What if abortion became illegal?  They would probably make a waiting list for the parents instead of the newborns.  There would be plenty to go around. 

The question that alot of people ask pro life is that if abortion became illegal the world would populate too much or there would be thousands of orphaned children.  But I ask you.  Isn't the world already over populated and aren't there already thousands of orphaned children out there?  This is not new.  But my question for them is do we need to add murdering babies into the whole world of problems we are currently having?

I believe it would cause an increase in deaths and severe complications for those women who seek out an abortion "behind closed doors".

They should never have legalized it in the first place. They use the lame argument that women were "forced" into back alley abortionists and they would die. CONSEQUENCES for your sin of murder!

None of the above. The biggest problem we would have if abortions became illegal would be that women would be dying. Why? Because they would be going to illegal clinics that have unsafe/unsanitary practices, getting the abortions anyway, and dying of infections because they are unable to recieve follow up care for the illegal procedure (for fear of being turned in by medical staff). Many women may also follow the do-it-yourself method and try with a coathanger or similar sharp object, puncturing the uterus and/or another internal organ, again resulting in a massive, systemic infection, or causing the woman to bleed to death. Or they may also try to take herbs or a drug overdose to induce a miscarriage, which (again) can easily result in death due to misdosing.
OR... many women might carry the pregnancy to term, and end up killing their baby... or leaving it in a trash can, dumpster, back alley, etc.
I would love to think that the result of illegal abortions would be that every child would have a loving home, and every person who wanted a child would have their dreams fulfilled, but in reality, I highly doubt it.

I didn't vote. Those reasons never crossed my mind when deciding that I am prochoice and thinking about my views on abortion. I do not think abortion should be illegal because there will still be women (young, and old) who get pregnant and don't want it and will do self abortions. (throwing one's self down the stairs, having someone hit them in the stomach, coat hangers, etc...) That will cause more deaths to the women and still will not help in the anti-abortion area. I do not think abortion should be illegal because of the women who get raped and end up pregnant. I do not think it is right to expect a woman to have to wake up every day for 9 months and have visible proof of what happened to her. What baby would want to know that he/she was the product of such a brutal, disgusting thing? I do not think abortion should be illegal because sometimes, there are complications and in order for the mother to live, unfortunatly, the baby must not. However unfair or wrong that is, it's reality. Sometimes they can tell that the baby is not developing and it will be born with all sorts of issues and will not live. Why put a mother through the pain of continuing a pregnancy that will only end in pain.

There are SO many reasons why abortion can be acceptable. The prolife people that I have spoken to say they think it should be illegal because teens use it a birth control and if you don't want to get pregnant, don't have sex etc...which is also true, BUT those are not the only reasons for it. I do think that one should only be allowed one abortion (unless special circumstances occur). Personally, I would never be able to have an abortion. Morally, it's not me and I wouldn't be able to live with myself, but I do understand the reasoning behind some peoples choice.

I didn't vote either. I am prochoice. For many of the reasons that Alexis_mommy103 stated. The only thing I agree with Prolife people is that many women take advantage of it and use it as a birth control..And for that they are punished in their own way..Your body can only take so many abortions before it damages your insides which can make you unable to carry a child to term, so if they want children in the future they might want to think twice about using abortion as a birth control method..Especially when not having sex is safer..

Anyway as prochoice as I am I don't believe in abortions for myself. I couldn't live with myself. Especially after having a daughter and being pregnant again.. But it's not for me to judge and I hope that I never have to face anything that would have to make me consider an abortion..

I wont vote on that one.  Because the world would not be perfect and the other ones are not just.  There would be more orphans, but also more unwanted children, and more abused little ones.  It is not anyone else's choice what I do with my body, and that should be my choice.
