So, I am a tad irritated because my original post was deleted. Apparently I can't use screen names when venting. Guess it'd be better to use their real name. Huh.
Anyway, it went a little something like this.
(**DISCLAIMER**NAMES HAVE BEEN DELETED TO PROTECT THE "INNOCENT". So has some of the dialogue, cuz' heaven forbid anyone should be able to figure out who the scam artist is!!!!
I received a friend invite the other day in which the subject line stated: Hey just looking to make some new mom friends.
I accepted her invite, after all, isn't that one of the reasons why we are on here? She then proceeded to send me a chatterbox note saying that I had commented on her pots (lie #1)and also a website, which I really didn't pay too much attention to. I really wasn't sure what she was referring to but, I'm also a forgetful person. So, I sent her a note back saying "sorry, I spaced it, what pots? LOL". Or something very similar to that. I then got a response in my chatterbox from her with the website addy(same as in previous chatterbox). Lie #2. Maybe technically that wasn't a lie, but it was misleading......as in the forum I supposedly posted in. Still, giving her the benefit of the doubt, I went to her page to see what groups she was in, thinking we were in one of the same groups and I really had forgotten that I had commented on her pots. Nope. She is in 101 groups, all pimping & promoting stuff. Not one of them am I in. So, girlfriend is trying to pull a fast one over on me, eh? I don't think so. That REALLY ticked me off!
Here's the thing. I hate liars. Don't lie or mislead me to get what you want. You will get anything but. "Friends" don't lie to their friends. Had she been honest from the beginning and told me what she wanted or needed, I probably would have bought some stuff. It's called support and that's what real friends do. Support each other.
I am all for supporting small business, networking and people promoting their items and/or interests, but c'mon people, don't be deceptive when you go about it.
I was originally going to send her a pm to her, but I thought that by posting something that everyone could read to let other moms know this is a FRAUD, I was doing a 'service'(evil genius). Apparently fraud is accepted on CM, but standing up for yourself and exposing people for who they are IS acceptable.
Comments:
Yeah, I deleted her also. Sucks that we can be 'harassed' like that and it's ok.
lol I think I may have gottent the same thing... can you pm me her screen name or will we both get kicked off of cafe mom for it... lol
If this didn't happen on the internet, what she did would have been illegal. You can't lie to someone to get them to buy something, period. CafeMom is more worried about shutting you up than protecting you. That's why I hate her! lol
ps I'm sorry this happened to you. It really sucks that you can't trust anyone anymore. I, like you I assume, am a naturally trusting person.
Ugh, that sucks! Sorry that happened to you, I agree that it's ridiculous not to be able to warn others about potential scammers. :(
That does stink. One thing I really don't like about Cafe Mom is all the advertising. It really turned me off when I first got here, and actually still does.

I believe I got an invite from the same person. I initially accepted, then went to her page to see how she found me. I too noticed all the sales and promotion groups she belonged to and deleted her immediately.
