Suicide

Man, what a day....

I received a call today and was woken up out of my sleep.  A good friend of mine told me that a Lieutenant at my police department (served 22 years) committed suicide early yesterday morning.  I have been in shock all day.

I remember telling him that he was my favorite Lt.  Whenever I needed to get off early or didn't want to work mandatory overtime, he would always have my back.

It is just crazy!  I just hit me this morning when I read an email about it.  He would always have a smile on his face no matter how stressed out he was.  I remember telling him that he was the hardest working man I knew.  Little did I know that he HAD to work so much.

I was told over the last couple of weeks that he was married to a woman for 17 years but cheated on her the whole time.  He had a baby by another woman, but his wife stuck by him.  I guess his wife just got tired of the cheating.  He also purchased some big ticket items that he had to work all that overtime for.  He also had a hefty child support payment for that baby he had.

I guess finally, his wife left him and moved into her own place.  He couldn't handle it though.  He lost 20- 30 lbs and had to hit out on stress leave.  He also had a nervous break down.

Well yesterday, the police were called to his house in the morning on a report of a possible suicide and they found him with one self inflicted gun shot wound.  He later succumbed to his wound at the hospital.

Damn, it just hit me this morning and now I can't sleep.

Sorry to hear about your friend.  Suicides are never easy to understand.  Sorry for your loss.

Dang thats sad..! Like I told you if you need to talk call me anytime.. You know we can talk about whatever...! Stay strong, and hopefully ppl will use this as a lesson( hard, and Sad one) but to know the signs of depression..! i'M SORRY FOR YOU LOSS STAY STRONG NOT ONLY FOR YOURSELF, BUT YOUR FAMILY...!
