I am a coupon clipper. I have a coupon file. I used to get coupons from the paper but I find that is not the optimal way to save money. First of all, the coupons are very genera-they are necessarily products you use and you want coupons for things you acutally use. That breaks the first law of coupon clipping-never clip a coupon for an item you don't use. Secondly, the amount off is very small. It's usually only about 25 to 40 cents and you have to buy multiple prodcuts to get it. This isn't so bad if you go to a store that double or triples AND has the item on sale. Most stores will only double coupons up to a dollar, so if the coupon is more than 50 cents, it's not really useful. I'd rather find a coupon for 35 cents off one item than 55 cents off two, you know?
Back when Ria was on soymilk and WIC wouldn't cover it, I called Silk, and they sent me some coupons. These were really good coupons for like a dollar or two off. I wondered if this wouldn't work for other products. So I looked in my cabinet and fridge and got to calling. I called several companies and here are just a few of the coupons I got.
* Cambell/Pepperidge Farms/Prego/V8/Swanson/Pace: $2 off any product they make. This means that when I went to the store and got a jar of Prego spaghetti sauce that was priced at $2.04, I only paid 4 cents for it. The cashier looked shocked. They sent me 4 coupons, which is super awesome!
Simply Lemonade: $1 off. Simply Lemonade is sooo good! It tastes like the Chik-fil-a lemonade to me, though some find it a bit tart. It tastes even better when you only pay a dollar for it! It usually goes for $2.50, but Target had it on sale for $1.99. Yummy!
And the very best one: www.immaculatebaking.com Immaculate Baking Co makes the best refridgerated cookie dough, and it's organic. It is just delicious. Their dough is a little more pricey than most, but you definitely get what you pay for. Yesterday, I got a lovely card from them. It had folk art on it and this is what it said:

Isn't that the sweetest thing ever? I feel like they went the extra mile, so eveybody go out and buy a pack. If your grocery store doesn't carry them, tell them YOU NEED THESE COOKIES NOW!! Trust me, you won't be sorry. The coupons were for a free pack of dough (Yes!!!!) and 2 fifty cent off coupons, which my grocery store will double to a dollar off. I see cookies in the near future.
Anyways, we are all having a hard time in this rocky economy, so I thought I'd share my little money saving hint. Don't waste your time clipping coupons you will never uses. Get them straight from the source.
Cheers,
Regina
