Open adoption is a sacred promise and sometimes an actual contract made between potential adoptive parents and an expectant woman considering adoption for her child.

It can be a successful and rewarding experience as it is in my family, but the other and more common experience is that adoptive parents do NOT  honor their promises.

That is the side that no one seems to hear about, because it is not the rosy portrayal that society wants presented.

I am an adoptive mom and I had certainly never heard about it until I came to Cafemom.

I have met countless numbers of women who placed their babies for open adoption only to have the adoption closed - sometimes as soon as their child left the hospital with the adoptive parents.

Some women never received one promised picture, or visit, or ......ANYTHING that was promised to them.   Some were sent pictures for a few months and then suddenly....NOTHING.   No more pictures, no explanations, no assurances that their child was happy and healthy and loved.

Please visit my group before you take the biggest risk of your life - placing your child for an open adoption - or any type of adoption for that matter!

Because open adoption might give what you HOPE will be a happy ending, but chances are HUGE that it will not.

Come see us and get informed!  This is the most important decision you will ever make in your life.
