How did you come up with your child's name?

Did you name your child (children) for any specific reason? After someone or something. My son was named Dallas for the team.The Dallas Cowboys.  My husband and his dad have always been Dallas fans. My mil said that my dh has always said since he was small he was going to name his son Dallas.

Well we thought that the name would be unusual, but, and mind you there are only 100 kids in the 4th grade, there are 3 with that name. LOL

My oldest was named after me and my best friend. Her name is Nicole Renee. She has my middle name for her first and my best friends middle name as her middle.

My middle child was named after our first date. We went to the river walk in October and it poured the whole time we were there. So she is Autumn Rayne. We spelled her middle name differently because Raymond is a family name. My grandfather, father and brother are all Ray's.

My youngest wasn't named after anything real specific. My husband wanted to call her AJ (which he NEVER does!). So she's Amayah Jade

Funny story . . . . . . . . I always knew I would name my daughter ''Nicole'' and when I got together with my dh; he had always wanted to name his daughter-to-be that also.   Neat.    I had always wanted to name my first-born son after his father; so we did.     And Our 3 year old;  he picked the girls name & I picked the boys name.    I won!!

My oldest girl is Violet after my grandmother...I was really close with her when i was a kid and when she was dying, I was 15, I told her I was going to name my first daughter after her!!!!  It was a struggle to convince her father of that, so I made a deal with him that if he let me name her Violet, he could name the next child....which he chose Phillip (no idea why...just liked it I guess......and Maryanne, my youngest wasn't named until the day she was born....I saw an interview of Keith Urban and the interviewer asked him what his kind of woman was, Ginger or Maryanne (from Gilligan's Island)......and something just clicked...I wanted the nice sweet quiet girl-next-door type kid, so I named her Maryanne...little did I know she was going to be the wild child of the family !!!!  LOL

I named my son Dallas because my husband is a big Dallas Cowboys fan. I didn't like it at first but I wouldn't be able to see him with another name.

His sister s named him from the Bible in church one day.  We knew he was going to be a boy.  We thought it was perfect so we all agreed on the name they chose.  they were 12 and 15 yr old.  It was a family decision lolol
