My weekend started early Friday when i picked my girls up from their dad's after their 1 week visit for summer. I noticed BOTH girls scratching like dogs with fleas! I asked why and they said they had dandruff. i said ok we'll wash your heads good and i thought they had spent to much time in the sun in the pool no big deal but all the while thinking they may have lice AGAIN. 3rd time in 4 months getting it while at their dads. he has a step niece that keeps it and shes at their house all the time.  So we go to grocery store and get a few things all the while they are clawing away. So we get to the car and i say let me look and OMG the horror. Both their heads were covered in nits and live lice! I was ANGRY and they knew it and they were to. I called their dad after, all he had them for a week friday to friday. He said he asked  y they were scratching they said they had dandruff he looked and didnt see n e thing. Well my 10 yo has sores that were bleeding from clawing so bad. They had had it for the whole week we now know and it went untreated nor did i get a call.

We treated, called everyone that  they may have been in contact with, bc thats what responsible parents do,  right? and the SAGA begins, treat, clean house, LAUNDRY LAUNDRY LAUNDRY, more LAUNDRY, and pick their heads over, they are crying and mad and upset. We have spent ALOt of money and time to get rid of this mess including lice treatments, spray, dr appnts, laundry detergent, HOT water, electricity to RUN dryer w/d for 2 days str8 nearly and more. So much for saving money for our first vacation to the beach this week!

During all of this we find out my neighbors kids have it, and both boys now have shaved heads and i mean cue ball shaved. APPARENTLY her husbands niece brought them with her from FL 4 weeks ago when she came for her 4 week summer visit. She has been staying in their youngest sons room! She has been gone to stay with other family and he has been sleeping in his room. SHE NEVER SAID ANYTHING AND NEVER ITCHED BC APPARENTLY SHE IS USED TO HAVING THEM!!! WHAT NERVE OF A MOM TO ALLOW A CHILD TO ENDURE THAT!! Not to mention all the money that it has cost all of us and her family bc she has been in 7 houses since being here and exposed several cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, family members. Her grandma had her when we finally figured this all out and she checked her head and said she had literally thousands of them in her red past her shoulder length THICK hair!!!

We did checks again last night and my youngest still had some. We are going today to get SHORT hair cuts AGAIN, but thankfully they are excited about short hair bc they love my neighbors new do! Oh my neighbor who had been letting her hair grow out for her 10 yr vow renewal next summer also had to cut her hair off really short, and her husband and my husband now have military cuts from being so paranoid! I have managed to escape the infestation and my hair is to my mid back. I will be pissed if i get them. i am letting it grow out to DONATE to LOCKS of LOVE this winter.  My DS14's  MOHAWK has escaped them as well as my 2 yr olds beautiful blonde hair.

SO moms please check your kids hair even tho its summer and their not in school. You never know when they will be exposed to this, we had no IDEA and my kids play at the neighbors daily.

this is my neighbor and her boys before their hair cuts

and this is my family before haircuts! DS 14 now sports a mohawk about 5 inches tall!

Grrr! Lice are such a hassle! Wouldn't it be great if we could eradicate them completely?

I know what it's like to have to battle lice.  My dd came home from school twice with it over the winter.  It is a pain in the neck and in the wallet.  That stuff is expensive!  But I do want to say, that I worked at a salon for 3 years and any time any one had lice, they have to stop and make them leave.  The stylist is not allowed to cut, style, or color, etc. any hair that has lice.  So you may want to treat again, to make sure they are all gone so you don't have to go through the embarassment of the stylist finding them.  Hope you can get your dds' father to clean up and get rid of them, your neighbor too.  Good luck!!!!

yeah i am aware of the salon thing. They are clean as of last night and i am checking again this morning. My neighbor and i are working frantically to get it all cleaned up, she is just as pissed as i am. And her ex sister in law is driving from FL to AR to get her today! And boy is she gona get an ear full! The girls dad is in the military and they are divorced and he will be pissed as well when he learns of this. Apparently he made the mom cutthe girls hair off once this summer possibly bc of it.

I'd keep baby oil in your hair until the scare is over! lice can not live in oil you may look a little greesy but at least you won't get lice it works great I myself have escaped many lice scares with baby oil
