My son is now 3 months old and on Medicaid. He has not received any shots yet. They keep sending me letters saying that I need to give him shots, but I am still not comfortable doing so while he is so little, if at all...especially if I don't even know what they are vaccinating him for. My 2.5 yr old daughter is fully up to date on shots, but my gut is telling me to be careful with the baby. Maybe it is that he is a boy, or more likely, that I took an abnormal child psychology class and studied autism & aspergers while I was pregnant. Either way, I want to be more educated on the matter. So far, the more I learn, the less I want to give my baby anything that they can neither prove nor disprove will do him any harm. Medicaid says this is what he needs:

Hep B (I know what that stands for, but what are the others?)

DTaP

Hib

IPV

PCV

MRR

Varicella

I want to actually research the ailments before I decide whether the vaccine or the virus is more harmful. I don't want him to get Polio for example, but could care less if he gets chicken pox. Are any of these vaccines better to go ahead and give rather than ignore, or should I just wait until he is bigger and spread them out? I know this is a lot to ask, but I want to know everything I can and also see what other parents feel. I seem to be the only one I know questioning this for some reason. People all think I am crazy for not just blindly following orders from up above. Mainly, I just want to know what the heck these vaccinations are. Do they all have Mercury?... Thank you so much! I am grateful that there is a support group for us cynical moms out there.

i wouldnt worry to much, my son had all the shots done to him. i would research all these and if you think they are harmful then dont get them done. but please be sure to be aware of what can happen if he doesnt get them.

I wish you the best of luck and it is common for you to worry more with another baby because in  fact they are the baby and mommies tend to be more careful or attached to them

Best of luck,

Heather

Go to www.RightHealth.com   it's a site for the vaccinations, you'll be able to research the vaccines from there. Good luck!
