So last week was not a good one for my little guy. He woke up monday morning with a slight temp, not a big deal. I gave him a squirt of tylenol and gave his daddy instructions on how to give it to him when he picked him up that afternoon. Tuesday morning around 4 am they rushed him to the ER with a temp of 104. They told him it was a regular cold and told him to alternate tylenol and motrin every few hours. Wednesday afternoon his temp shot back up to 104, and by the time he got to the ER he was at 105, 106 is when your brain starts to fry. They took chest scans and told them it was beginning pnemonia!

So that's when I got that call at work that my son was in the hospital, I rushed out of there and sped up to clearlake. When I got there he was hooked up to an IV and looked miserable. The pedi doc said it was a bladder infection, not pnemonia and they started him on IV antibiotics.  (that hospital is notorious for misdiagnosis!)

That night his temp shot back up to 105 and he wouldn't keep his meds down, projectile vomit EVERYWHERE! The super hot nurse tried everything but he couldn't keep the meds down so finally we had to pack his little body in ice to bring his temp down. Ice packs on his head, chest and stomach, arm pits and legs. We had to do this twice before he kept enough of the meds in him to bring his temp down. Y'all have no idea how scary it is watching nurses pack your limp baby in ice too keep his brain from baking.

Thursday was a little less eventful, he managed to keep his meds down so we didn't let his temp get that bad again. The nurses kept pissing me off though because I could tell when his fever was about to go back up. His skin would start to get blotchy and soon after he would start to shiver, and they wouldn't listen to me! They thought they knew better then his mother, and it took several times with each nurse before they got the clue that I know my son way better then anyone else ever will. I was NEVER wrong. Luckly every night we had the same CNA so after the first night she got the idea that I could predict his fevers and was on it before the fever even came.

I didn't sleep wed or thurs night, I mean didn't even so much as dose off. 48 hours not sleeping is rough! Friday night I collapsed on the bathroom floor, idk what happened. I was standing flushing the toilet, next thing I know my back hit the wall, then I was face down on the floor with my ex husband screaming my name. He and the CNA peeled my face off the floor and got me into a chair. Danny's nurse (named Danny lol) ran in and took my blood pressure (it was high) and my blood sugar (it was waaay too low, I forgot my glucose monitor at home). He said it was a combo of exaustion and low blood sugar. Jeramie got me some food and stayed in the room so I could get some sleep.

Friday they unhooked the IV for a while and let him run around, he was the hospital celeb! Everyone knew Danny the sick little boy in 210.

His urine cultures came back clean on friday, they didn't think it was a bladder infection, she said it could of been just a really bad viral infection but she wanted him on 10 day antibiotics just in case. (It wouldn't suprise me if the hospital messed up the culture!)

The doc said they wanted to let him go on Sat but the condition to that was he had to go 24 hours with no fever and he hadn't done that all friday. Finally at 6 pm his fever was gone and didn't come back! He was released on sat just after 6pm.

He's just fine now, I'm taking him back to his regular doc so they can figure out what really was wrong with him. And the next time he so much as sniffles he's not leaving me, that way if he does get sick, he can be in a real hospital.

That hospital sounds just terrifying! I'm glad everything turned out well in the end though. I'm with you, make sure he goes to a real hospital after that. Ridiculous.

Hugs all around - again, glad he's home and doing better.

PS : Look after yourself, woman, you won't do Danny any good if you conk out again because you haven't been taking care of yourself properly. ;-)
