As many know, I tried to schedule a meeting with the Governor of
Connecticut after my Cesarean Awareness Month proclamation was declined. So
months went by and the date came. Which was today... August 6th at 1:30pm.
So I recruited a local Certified Nurse Midwife who does home birth as well
as hospital births at a local hospital to our capital building.
We set out on our journey this morning, information in tow and gun a
blazing (kinda LOL)
So we get to Hartford around 1pm and arrive at the building that I was
given directions to. We try to check in at the information desk and they have no
idea what we are talking about. They tell us there are no governors offices in
the building, and no one by the names working in that building (names of the
women we were supposed to be meeting with).
So I get the phone number to the office and give a call. I ask to speak
with the woman I am supposed to be meeting with, well she is in a meeting. So I
ask to speak to the other woman I am scheduled to meet with, she also is in a
meeting.
So I basically tell the person what is going on and another lady gets on
the phone. Very loud and boisterous insisting that I could not have been given
the wrong address.
So she goes to check the schedule of BOTH of the women I am scheduled to
meet with and she gets back on the phone and tells ME I do not have a
meeting there today.....
WHAT?!?!?!? YES I DO!!!!! So she takes my name and number and tells me she
will have one of the two women call me within 10 minutes. So I call my mother
(who is baby sitting) and ask her to open my email and make sure I did have the
right date. Well according to my mom and the email I WAS RIGHT!!!!
So the legal aid, who also happens to be the same women who declined the
cesarean awareness month proclamation calls me back and says that I was never
put down for an appointment today. (Now mind you the lady who made the actual
appointment is MIA)
So she asks if we could wait around another 2 hours, till 3pm to
meet.
Well unfortunately for me, I only had a baby sitter till 4pm, and the
midwife with me had an appointment at 4. So it was a no go.
No meeting took place, and now I have to wait, reschedule the meeting, and
hope they don't mess up again and we actually meet.
Even though this was a mistake on their hands (which they fully
acknowledged) I feel like now, we really have the upper hand...
Back to square one... BUT
What this does give us is more time to collect more
