I was just about to go to bed because I took Tylenol PM for a killer allergy headache and I am feeling loopy, but I know that if I don't write this down, I will forget to mention it:

This afternoon I layed down with Joshua to watch Elmo before his nap and he put his head on my shoulder and we were snuggling up.

Anyway, I gave him a kiss and told him he was my sweet baby and he said  "yesh an Tott's baby too"  (Scott is b-dad)

And I said that's right you are!

And then he said  "an Abby's baby too"  (his aunt - Scott's sister)

And finally:  "an Hi-anne's baby too"  (Cheyanne is his big sister - Scott's daughter)

I just thought it was SO dang cute - especially the part about him being his big sister's baby too!

I called his grandma and told her and she got a kick out of it.

I have forgotten to give you guys the rundown of our last visit.  Will have to do that here soon.  In the meantime, here is a picture of him and his Aunt Abby.  To say that he adores her would be a colossal understatement - ha!   He'd just gotten out of the pool and wanted to know where she was.  She was around the corner of the house doing what a lot of 20 year olds do (LOL)  talking on her cell phone to her boyfriend.  :o)    Course Joshua thinks that HE'S the boyfriend - ha!

One tidbit about our visit - Joshua had his first  "sleep-away" without Mommy and Daddy!  He stayed at his grandparents house and we went to the hotel.

He slept with his Aunt Abby and thoroughly enjoyed himself.  In fact, the morning after the first overnight, we came in time for breakfast and he seemed happy to see me but said:

"Hi Mommy!  Go away!"  and then ran giggling out of the room!

Gee thanks kid!

You have a generous heart....and because you do....as an adopted child,he is ALLOWED so much family....and that is so rare and special.  What a lucky boy he is, with you as his mommy and so many people who love him!

I echo Southernroots -

you are giving him such an incredible gift and freedom by 'allowing' him to have the extended family

so many aparents are terrified to acknowledge

what a lucky lucky lucky little boy!

I'm sure you feel lucky too.

the story about his Aunt is so incredibly sweet!

Gosh I hope you guys don't think I view any of this as  "allowing" --  I encourage and welcome it, I really do.  His grandmother has gotten to be one of my best friends.

When we were coming home from our visit, Luke said  "I wish Nini lived next door then we could see her all the time"  and I told him  "I wish that too babe".

I have great parents, but the most pivotal relationship of my life (before marriage anyway) was the one I had with my grandparents.  I want Joshua to have that same experience with ALL of his grandparents, but especially with Scott's parents.  We've already talked about when he is old enough he can go spend part of his summers with them.

Maybe allow isn't the right word....but, you do have to agree to let it happen which many aparents never would....it takes your permission and blessing for Joshua to have the contact with Scott's family as he does. I wonder if the biggest factor that makes it possible is that you have no doubt that Joshua loves you to pieces and because of that you CAN share him. You have no fear he will he will love someone else more....you know better. There seem be to such insecurities and possessive feelings within so many aparents.

Luke likes Nini too, huh! How cool is that! She sounds pretty special. A thought....did Joshua mention Alaina when he was talking about all the people? With all the bad crud that's been happening around her lately, glad that you have some good stories!

Ohhhh I have a little insecurity - LOL - but I get past it!

Yes, Luke LOVED Nini.  She is a very special and sweet person.

No, he didn't mention Elaina this time around although he has before.  He likes to tick off whose baby he is from time to time and a couple of  months ago when we were at Nini's I asked him if he was mine and Nini's baby and he said:

"No, I Tott's baby an I Laina's baby."

So he does mention her occasionally.  It's just that the dynamic is different with her.  When Nini sees him she's all over him, physically and emotionally, but when Elaina sees him it's different.  She doesn't talk to him much and she doesn't hug and kiss him.  I encourage him to give the hugs and kisses and such.  When they talk on the phone I tell him to say  "love you" and she will say it back, but she doesn't initiate it and I'm not sure why.  Surely she knows by now that it wouldn't phase me, in fact I would be happy about it.

They almost seem to have a big sister / little brother relationship - if that makes sense.

And I received a couple more phone calls from her last night and the night before that - I will share them when we're all not so down.  :o)  Cause as usual she's got turmoil....

Just thought of something - in her defense, maybe she doesn't talk much to him because of his speech problems?  He's not a big talker except at home and even then we can't always understand him, though he's getting better.

And I don't think the majority of her family shows affection, so she's just accustomed to that.  I bet anything that when her new baby gets here and she's able to have a baby 24/7 to love and kiss on that she will change!  :o)
