So it is wild life america at my house the last couple of weeks! DH went out to water the plants on the porch last week only to find a hole the size of an ice cream bucket dug in our garden. It goes pretty deep and possibly under the slab. The dad of my dd's dance partner is a pest guy (we call him the verminator!) so I called him to come take a look so I know what we're dealing with. Says we got an armadillo..... have you ever seen one alive? I have only seen them dead on the side of the road the whole 12 years I've been living in Texas. So he lets us borrow a live trap - tells us to go buy some bait. (I guess they eat meal worms.) Well, after the first night, the bait drowned because I forgot to factor in the garden sprinklers. So, now we're no bait. Finally on the 4th night we caught the bugger! Yay!!! The kids thought it was so cool. The poor dillo however was terrified. Shaking and crying no less! The verminator however has a huge heart and doesn't kill anything other than rats and snakes..... so he took him out to the lake and let him go. I filled in th hole and thought my saga ended there......NOPE! Two nights later, we find the hole re-dug. Great. Another eviction in my future.

So, back to the trap - no bait this time. Took two nights and low and behold I caught something last night! Go look and its a possum with a baby in its pouch! Seriously? So now what? Is the hole unoccupied now, or is the second resident elusive and I just caught an innocent passer by? Once again the verminator took the lil guy out to the lake (baby and all) and let him go. So, I'm gonna fill up the hole once again and see............ All this, and I'm in a subdivision - not even out in the country!!!!
