Do they do that thing... in the back of your throat... to you?  They make my throat get this annoying tickle/itch. But I eat 'em anyway.

Haha... I don't know. Glad to know it's not just me, though.

Those do that to me too! BUT the slightly more expensive ones "italian ice" at HEB are even YUMMIER! AND they don't do that throat thing! LOVE them! They wouldn't sell them in such HUGE packages if we wern't supposed to eat like, 10 of them in each sitting! lol

I have been freezing kool-aid for the boys- I just use 1/2 the sugar for each packet and they love it. They just discovered kool-aid in the grocery store here and asked if they could have it- "SURE!" I said, all excited (much to their surprise) then they flipped out when I told them they could pick 7 each! 7!!!! Really??? I just got the mom of the year award for letting them spend 1.00 each. THEN Kade flipped out when we got home and found out that each one of those little tiny packets made a whole big pitcher!  Ahhh, the simple days of childhood. I love reliving them with my children : )

I Googled it. We are not alone. Check it out:

http://randomesq.com/2006/07/31/fla-vor-ice/
"I admit to eating those Fla-vor Ice things - those foot long frozen sticks of sugar water that are something like twelve for a dollar. Boss gives me a look every time I eat one. For the record, women have about a hundred looks and all but one of them means, “Stop what you’re doing right now.” This is because every time I eat a Fla-vor Ice, I choke and cough. There’s something in them that irritates my throat. I brought some in our cooler to the movie in the park one time and when I pulled one out, she almost hit it out of my hand."

"anyone notice how if you eat more then one otter pop/flavorice you get that scratchy feeling in the back of your throat? i dont know if its the plastic that makes you cough or what they use to flavor the ice, but it happens to me every time without fail."

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/243722-post6.html
"Hells yes! I've got the better part of a 100 pack in the freezer.
As far as a favorite flavor, man, I'm gonna have to get back to you on that one. I'm off to do some sampling...
BTW, do these things burn anyone else's throat. Well, it's not really a burn, more like a stinging sensation. I don't mind, lets me know I'm alive."

it TOTALLY happens to me too!
i have noticed that if i eat the whole thing while it's still ice, it's not so bad.... but, it's when i let it melt a little bit, and then drink the juice from the bottom, that my throat gets scratchy and i cough.

hmmmmm..... they are SO GOOD i don't even care! haha!
