Well, our trip to Carowinds was interesting to say the least.

We got there, rode one quick ride and then got in line for Ricochet, a small roller coaster.  The lines were LONG and it was HOT.  Everyone was sweating but in pretty good spirits.  We were next in line to get on after waiting maybe 15 minutes, when my 12 year old nephew turns to his mom (my sis) and I and said "I think I'm dehydrated,"  which we took for "I'm thirsty."  We said as soon as we got off the ride, we were going straight to get drinks.  He said ok, turned to board the coaster and WHAM!  Just fainted cold, face first on the coaster boarding platform.

The staff there was super-  one operator scooped him up and carried him to the first aid station with his mom right behind.  I followed with the other two kids.  Long story short, he had heat exhaustion.  His body temp was 101- they ice packed him and when his temp went down, they started fluids.  He stayed in the first aid station for about an hour and then they drove him to the car.  His finger hurts but we don't think it is broken and he has a bruise on his cheek.  It could have been so much worse . . . he was less than a foot from the coaster track drop off and if he'd fallen even halfway in, he'd have been badly hurt.

So anyway, the trip consisted of 4 hours in the car and the enjoyment of one ride.  Oh well.
