We just potty trained Hunter about three weeks ago after watching a segment on the Potty wisperer on Good Morning America or something like that.  We were dreading it, but it has been a breeze!  Hunter is three and a half...

First we bought Go Diego Go underwear (since Diego is his thing), a step stool, and a seat to fit on the regular toilet.  We told him he didn't want to potty on Diego...cause we like Diego.

Day one, I told him the steps he needed to go through in order to potty on the toilet.  I also told him that if he pooped in the potty, and I got to see it, that it would result in a trip to Mc Donalds.  First day, no poop, but no pee accidents either.  We used a diaper that night to go to bed.

Day two, I took a shower and while I was in there, he pooped on the potty and wiped himself, and didn't flush it, so that night we went to Mc Donalds.  We all thanked him for us being able to go...he was very proud of himself.  No pee accidents either.    He wore a diaper to bed this night as well.

Day three, he didn't want to wear diapers to bed, we complied with this because we wanted to show our confidence in his skills.

He has had two pee accidents in three weeks (very minor accidents, I think he caught himself)...which I think is pretty good.  When he has had an accident, we don't make a big deal at all.  I just tell him to take off his soiled clothes, put them in the laundry room, and get new clothes on.  (the potty wisperer said that they need to take care of all their own potty needs)

She also said that rather than telling them when to go, or making them sit on the toilet, to tell them that if they need to go, they know what to do.  She said that  doing this sort of belittles their intelligence.   So  I will say, "Hunter, we are going to the store, if you need to go to the bathroom, you know what to do."

Hunter is the third out of four kids.  By far, this has been the easiest method we have tried, and with the best results.

Thanks for the info/ I have a 2 and a half year old boy and where he goes to preschool he has to wear pull-ups ( I think he is too young to get it but that's what they do there)... I don't really push him at home to go and have wondered if I am doing the right thing or not. My son only goes to the school 2 days a week for 4 hours each time. I will research this more about the "potty whisperer"-
