Well, it's been a long haul, made even longer by rained out lessons, but Alyssa is finally ready to test out of the Infant Swim Resource program! She is an amazing little swimmer!
I strongly recommend the ISR program (http://www.infantswim.com/) to anyone with a small child who lives near any bodies of water - pool, hot tub, pond, lake, etc. It is NOT a stroke-oriented swimming program. It is a SURVIVAL program that teaches children 6 months to 6 years how to float on their back so that they can breath, look for a way out, swim towards the way out, then turn and float on their backs for more air if they can't make it to the exit in one breath.
Here is Alyssa, in the "float" portion of the swim-float-swim sequence:

Here is a short, and slightly pixelated, clip of her swim-float-swim (well, more like float-swim-float) sequence:

Way to go Alyssa! That's wonderful. I want to sign Cara up for some lessons too as I'm sure she'll enjoy them as she is a fish out of water. :)
That's great! What a comfort to know that she is able to get herself to safety!!
that is so great...I have heard such wonderful things about the ISR program I just can not get hubby on my team with the whole $70/hr. But my goodness by the looks of Alyssa it is so worth the money!

Great job Alyssa. I've been wanting to get my kids in swimming lessons too, but we don't have the extra money right now. Jade has actually gotten better and Arthur knows enough on how to get to the wall. Maybe by next year I can get them some :o)
