So we're going through another deployment and I wanted to do something special for the kids - especially my 2 year old as he doesn't understand like our 10 year old does...deployment isn't quite in his vocabulary yet :)

So a couple of months ago I found this company that makes dolls of those you miss mostly featuring military parents - so I thought it would be kind of cute..

Dad has been gone for about 2 weeks now and little Gabe is asking more and more where daddy is, every time we drive near the base he asks if we're going to 'daddy's work' or every time he sees a plane in the sky - is that 'daddy's plane' (he last saw daddy boarding an airplane as he left for his deployment - so he thinks that all the airplanes he sees could be the one bringing daddy back) - soo sad I know :(

So I go out  the front door yesterday and practically trip over a box - wondering what the heck it was I pick it up and it's my daddy doll that I ordered for Gabe - alot earlier than I expected!!  Instead of the 4-6 weeks that I was told it only  took 2!

So I go back into the kitchen and make a big deal that we recieved a BOX  - 'I wonder what it is!'  So the kids help me open it and out slides a little bag that has the dog tags with my husbands picture on it and  I tell my older son that's for him - my little one sees the picture of their dad on it and is trying to get it from his big brother...so I tell him - 'wait there is MORE come look!'  So he comes back to the box and starts attacking it :)  as he's pulling out the bag that the doll is in he notices that his daddy IS the doll and he goes a little crazy trying to wrestle the doll out of the box!

Let me say that I DID balk at first about spending $52 on those two items HOWEVER they were worth every cent!!  My kids LOVE them and my little guy did everything with his daddy doll last night - it was just too cute - I have a feeling that the doll is going to be going everywhere with us :)  All through the night he had his little arm around his daddy it's just adorable to see him interacting with the doll  - he even took him to the bathroom so daddy could watch him go potty on the toilet right before he went to bed!!

Okay so I'm adding more pictures - it's been a month and a half and he still takes daddy everywhere!

Walking big brother to school  - sharing some board tricks and even camping!  The doll has held up great and all I've really needed to do to it was wipe it down with wipes to clean it up :)

That is soooo cool. I have a brother in the navy who is stationed in Japan. My 3 year old neice hates when he has to go away. He generally leaves for 5 weeks every few months. This will be great for her! How are your kids holding up? Its such a hard thing for little ones to go through.
