Last night we attended our first Romanian wedding. We had a ot of fun. They chose a blessing with our friend attending them instead of a traditional orthodox wedding because she is not an active Christian. But the reception was so much fun. It started about 3 with the first of 5 courses spread out over 12 hours, with serious dancing in between courses. The best part was when the boys ( our friends and Michael) kidnapped the bride from the reception. They bundled her up and took her to a bar nearby for drinks, while they made ransom calls to the groom. A ransom price was finally agreed up in about an hour, and MIchael and Mircea returned to see their demands carried out. carrying her shoe as proof that that really had her. The price agreed up was the national anthem, shirtless. Once he did, they returned her unharmed. Well little did we know she would personally name each andevery one of her kidnappers to the "police" and they would then have to be punished!! The sentence was A WALTZ!! With each other. Micheal and David, Emi and Mircea and Stephan and Cretzon... It was great. Soo funny. We got loads of photos, and I add a few in a day or two. After that we had hours more dancing and games. The women even bought flats for when their feet started to hurt. Abby was a hoot!! She cut up and danced non-stop for about 10 hours!! I don't know how she did it, she didn't even stop to eat..until cake about 1am. Hannah was more tranquil and just sat and talked with different people, and ate like crazy. It was loads more fun that I ever thought possible. I am sure that the 2 bottles of Champagne helped. The groom bought Angela and I one, and her brother David got us another. Yummmmy!! Well anyway that was our day...and night and early morning.. we finally made it home about 3 am the next day with dirty little children stuffed with cake and just glowing.
