My Grandma made a quilt years and years ago.......she is 86 and she made it when her children we young.....so since i'm her favorite, although she'll never admitt that to anyone except for me.....she has too many to play favorites......so anyways, on mother's day we were up there and DH children adn I were the last  ones to leave ( i lived with my granny for a few years) and before we left she said "Now sally puss i have something i want to give you" (sally puss is her nick name for me) so she goes into my old bedroom, and brings out the quilt i used on my bed at her home, and she sat down with me and said "I love you Heidi but my days are numbered now, and i don't have much time left.....i know the kids will arguee over stuff, but i want you to have this" and then she gave me the quilt and went on to tell me to take care of it and all that stuff........so when we got home i drapped it on my quilt rack.......i only used it once, just for old times sake i wasn't cold or anything, i just wanted to drift in thought back to my days living with my granny, it was the best and most stable time of my life...so now my 2 year old son has adopted the blanket for himself........he never used a blanket, he would always throw them to the side if you covered him up.....he just never liked them, but this quilt is something special and i think he knows that......but he will go get the quilt and his pillow, comein on the couch and be asleep within 5 minutes, so all i can say is "GOD BLESS MY GRANNY, AND GOD BLESS THE QUILT".....granny is still with us but you can look at her know her days are numbered....she doesn't have any major health problems or anything, she has just lived a long and ful life is just tired and ready to go be with grandpa...... they had 10 children together, 34 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 4 great great gradnchildren....so she has lived a good life, and a happy one....don't know why i felt compelled to write about this, but i did, so anyways you ladies have a wonderful day!!! and live life to the fullest!!!!!

How lucky you are to have your Grandma so long! My Mom's Mom died before I was born and both my grandparents on my dad's side died when I was young. My Grandma died when I was in third grade and my Grandpa 6 months after my Dad died when I was 12.  So.. I am so jealous of people who still have their grandparents!!! I'm happy for you! I've told my mom to break the cycle. She has to be around for a LOOONG time so she can see my babies babies. :0) That was wonderful about the quilt. My mom quilts and she made me one that I keep in my room! A quilt is a very special gift! :0)
