I'm lucky enough to have a pretty good park district in our city that offers affordable activities for kids of all ages.

I just signed my middle two kids up for fall classes.  Meagan refuses to do any sports and they don't offer anything else she is interested in and Nora is still too young for the classes at our park (they start at 3 and she isn't even 2 1/2 yet...next year, though).

Anyway.  Owen will be doing basketball on Wednesdays from 4-5.  He is not thrilled but he needs a sport that will keep him moving and burn off energy.  Last winter he did wrestling which he enjoyed and then in the spring he did track & field twice a week and that was more fun and really got him moving.

Besides basketball he will be doing floor hockey on Fridays from 6-7.  That was for ages 7+.  Owen is only 6 but he will be 7 like 5 days after the classes start.  Plus I know the teacher and coach.

Brenna is going to do gymnastics on Thursdays from 4-5 and soccer on Wednesdays from 6-7.  Both classes are for ages 6+.  She won't actually be 6 until November but she is too old to do the other classes which are for 3-5 and 4-5 year olds when she'll be 6 a month and a half after the classes start.

I'm not worried.  I've known the teacher there for 4 years, my kids have taken all sorts of classes with her and my neighbor used to babysit for her.

Wednesdays are going to be long days, especially since there is an hour between the two kids' classes and bed time is usually 7pm which is when classes end.

I used to take Andrew for some classes in Portage Park, I loved the park, they did a beautiful job with the landscaping plus you had some much to do, classes and such, wow, I miss that a lot.

I tried to talk Meagan into it but she didn't want to hear about any sports.  Brenna's excited, though (more about soccer then gymnastics).
