On Monday we went to Corbin's pediatrician to remove the stitches from his lip. I was thinking it was too soon to take them out because the area still had dried blood & yellowish stuff on it. The yellow stuff turned out to be dried skin (like when your lips are chapped) that was being held on by either the dried blood or the stitches. It & all the dried blood just fell off as the Dr removed the stitches. He has a little line just under his lip but the Dr thinks it will fade & there may not even be a scar at all after a time. I am so happy it healed so well. I really thought he was going to have a huge disfiguring scar from the way it looked the day the accident happened.

We aren't all clear yet though. Now that the swelling is gone & the stitches are out we were able to move his lips & look more closely at his teeth & gums. He scrapped up his gum around one tooth on his upper jaw & that tooth looks like it may have been pushed up a bit. The pediatrician told me to wait until next week & if doesn't look better to take Corbin to a pediactric dentist. I am thinking I may take him regardless of how it looks, just to be on the safe side.

I'm glad his lip is fine.  Jill got a really bad when she was a baby, and it scarred, but the scar went away.  You can't even tell anything happened.  I hope his teeth are okay!

Aug. 14, 2008 at 10:03 AM keep putting on the neosporin..or anti-bacterial cream the Dr. gave you. It should help with healing the scaring.. Ouch...Im happy he is getting better. Seems like all boys have a scar on their lip or chin. Must be a boy thing..:) I hope everything goes ok at the dentist.

well as our Dr said when Mason got his stitches in his forehead..."Chicks dig guys with scars..."  and he does, right above his left eye, it's about 3/4 of an inch long and about 1/4 an inch wide...

I would definitely have his teeth checked out, even if everything is ok, I'd rather be safe than sorry...

OOO that happened to my sister when she was 5...She fell on the cement and her two front teeth pushed upward and they started to turn brown...Watch for discoloration of his teeth.  He could have damaged them...Poor lil one!!!
