Matt has a variety of friends. They range from 19 to old and red-neck to trendy to dorky and smart to dumb. Well his young friend was over here the other day. He was seeing our new baby and making conversation. He said he had to take home a "baby-think-it-over" for a class a few years ago. He was telling about how it cried about every 3 hours & he had to stick a key in its back & hold it there for a certain amount of time. He said, "But it's not really that hard taking care of a real baby is it?"
My eyes must have widened to the size of quarters as I stared at him dumbfounded. He thought that baby doll was hard to take care of? My mind spiralled into a blur of Images of a crying baby who couldn't be consoled and getting pooped on & vomited on at 2AM and having to bathe me & baby when I was too tired to hold my eyes open and arguing with Matt over baby duties and crying because I felt overwhelmed & helpless with a colicky baby and changing messy bed sheets in the middle of the night and the mountains of laundry and dirty house and cold meals that I have to shovel in so fast I can't taste the food because the baby will probably start crying again any minute & it could be hours before I get the chance to eat again. But I couldn't relate all this to him. I just kind of made a "Huhmph" laugh/ sound and said, "You thought that was hard? You have no idea." And I just knew there was no way I could possibly make him understand the reality of how difficult it really is & I let it go at that.

Ha Ha! Some men hve no idea how hard it is. I think my hubby thought it was going to be easy with a baby like all they did was sleep all day long. Boy was it a rude awakening to him when our little girl came, LOL!
My best friend is due any day now with her first, and she has no idea. Apparently someone told her that babies sleep for 16 hours a day. Yeah some do and if you have one like mine, she never sleeps. She also said to me, "so when the baby cries, what do they usually want", LOL! Poor thing is going to get a rude awakening.
lol... i would have said the same as him. for me taking care of an inanimate object would be VERY hard. i never dusted my knick-nacks. stick a key in a plastic doll & hold it there? yeah i would be frustrated, "Oh Come On, Seriously?"
but when that real Baby pees poos projectile vomits, stays a wake all night and screams, i don't mind b/c it is Real and there's a purpose.
lol... baby think it over made me angry. but kids, i LOVE my kids... so in a way i can possibly see his perspective?? at the same time part of me hopes he doesnt have kids anytime soon >.<
Are you kidding me?!! Ugh!! Some guys just have no clue. He will be in for a rude awakening one day when he has one of his own, that's for sure.
Hang in there girl! I remember those days and they were soooooooooo rough but it's only temporary (thx God!)
P.S. I had a colicy baby too!
