Ok so i had DH go check out a few daycare centers in the neighborhood for our son as we both agreed its time to give granny a break...
So we fine a really nice one just around the corner from the house; he does a primliminary interview and loves it. I go today and am confused...
The center seems great, nice clean, and spacious but when it came to food the centers director made it clear that there is NO formula allowed. What the hell is that about?!
My son is 9months old and allergic to milk what the hell is he suppossed to drink all day.
Granted we've started him on foods but he still has a few bottles during the day (4-5 maybe) but homegirl was like no i have a menu (and she was so proud of it !!!), yeah Great menu full of milk, cheese, yogurt and PB&J.
The center has been around for six years but homegirl doesn't know that a lot of kids are allergic to those things?! I don't know what to do i'm scared to leave him there, and we probably won't but is this what i can expect?
I asked her if she was first aid and cpr trained she said yes but she did not know what an epi pen was and stated that she would never give any medication to a child not even in the case of an allergic reation wtf?! so she rather watch my son god forbid die on her ?! it' upset me so much i wanted to shake her!
It's frustrating, anyone else have any experiences with this?
Comments:
I would not feel comfortable leaving him there. At nine monthes old they should still be on either formula or breast milk. I had a homedaycare and I had to be ceritfied in 1st aid. One of the things they should us was to use an epi pen. I did have a girl that had one but she never needed it. I do not see why they would serve peanut butter and jelly with so many alleric to it. I worked at a daycare the childern brought in there own food. Maybe you could look for a lisc. homeday care where they will serve they food you bring in for him.
Thank you both for the posts we did Not go with that center it is just so hard to find quality affordable daycare in NYC!!! I'm praying on it.

I work in a Daycare center,as the Head preschool teacher,i have also been in the toddler and infant rooms...do not take your child there! Our infant room has the rules,of every parent provides the baby's food(formula, breastmilk, baby food,ect....till they are able to eat our lunches)Under no circumstanes, would i give any child who is allergic to milk, regular milk products! We ask the parents to provide that,if necessary.I am aslo trained on Epi-pens,I have children who may need one! That center doesnt sound good...find a better one!I am in ohio..where was this?
