I was sitting in my Professor's office at school taking my Anatomy and Physiology 2 final..

I was having contractions every few minutes but being the dumb 19yr old I was...and seeing as my due date wasn't until October 6 I thought they were Braxton Hicks.

Well, they weren't...and by the time my exam was over..my contractions were almost immediately after each other.

I went to the parking lot and called my mom to pick me up. She said she'd stop at my doctors office on our way home(only about 5 minutes from my school). When I got there the midwife started telling me about how I was probably dehydrated and these were just contractions as a result of that...

NO WAY.. I said...Ive been pissing like a racehorse--I drank like 4 bottles of water already this morning. She continued to come up with reasons I might be having contractions and started to do a vaginal exam(FUN....NOT!!!). anyway...she was WRONG...shocker!!! I was already 5 cm dilated...

so she sent us to the hospital. I was only in labor a few hours..they had tried to stop the contractions...gave me a shot in my butt to develop his lungs and asked if I wanted an epidural.

"how long am i going to be in labor if the meds to slow contractions start working?"and the doc said,"...um 24 hrs or so."

"YES I WILL TAKE THE EPIDURAL THANK YOU!"

after the epidural was in I dilated quickly to 10cm and started pushing within a half hour. i pushed about 3 times and he was out...15-20 min total.

and thats when Lance was born... I was freaked out. I was 19 and had a baby 7ish weeks early...OMG! as soon  as I heard him cry though I knew he was ok. His apgar scores were surprisingly great and they brought him over to me quickly..they only let me hold him a moment because they wanted to take him into the NICU to warm him up and do some tests.

He spend 10 days in the NICU just so he could gain some weight. Lance Michael was 4lbs 15 oz and 16 1/2 inches long. Gosh it goes sooooo fast..:-/

and i passed the test btw hahaha
