i get a lot of letters from moms who are really feeling the economic pinch lately. they ask me how do i make good meals for my family with a very limited food budget?
it makes me sick when it comes down to do i pay the rent/electricity or do i feed my family? i don't think i am the only one facing that question these days.
what are your best money saving tips and or recipes to stretch those groceries as far as they can go?

I just posted something about this early in one of my groups.
What I do is
1. Always shop with a list and a meal plan.
2. Coupons and ads
3. Pack my Hubbies lunch, make his coffee, and I buy a gallon (milk jug style) of water that he can use at work to refill a plastic water bottle. This saves so much money!
4. Buy in bulk on things like toilet paper, laundry detergent, and things we use alot. It saves trips to the store as well.
5. I have an errand day. This way I do it all in one trip verses running out and wasting extra gas everyday. It takes some planning but it helps!

I am learning to make up menus 3 weeks at a time. Every 3 weeks, I take a Saturday afternoon and inventory my pantry, my freezer, and my fridge. Then I write down all the good sales in the fliers, and coupons that I have. Then, using the ingredients on those lists, I make my menus. I've shaved about 25% off my budget. I need to knock it down more, but it's hard for me. We really need to get down to $50 a week for food, toiletries and diapers.....I'm doing my best =)
