Owie! Pain in breast! Help?

My son is over a year old and I've had blocked milk ducts and mastitis before - but this seems different.

The pain started on Thursday as a regular feeling of a blocked duct, so I did my regular techniques of relieving it and no such luck - in fact, it's gotten worse (hence why I am posting) - the pain has moved from the side of the breast to the top of the breast and back again - it keeps seeming like it's going to disappear and then doesn't. Now today, Monday, I can feel it on the very top of my breast and under my arm pit like a sore pain - it's really hard to describe. I don't get it, what's wrong? I phoned in for a doctors appointment this morning and they said "Oh, you missed your appointment this morning (of which I forgot I had, and only had missed by literal minutes at that point) come in on Wednesday at 2" - should I wait that long? It seems like it's moving up the breast.. I don't feel any lumps (that i know of) - oh and when my son breast feeds it feels kind of weird, like something's not quite working properly and when my dh tried to help drain/unplug the duct (yes, he helps when my son can't/won't) - he said the milk didn't taste "milky"....

Please help?

No idea hun, I am clueless when it comes to that.  Try a breastfeeding group, someone there should for sure be able to help you!

I dont really have any answers for you either except to wait until your doctors appointment..its a good thing you dont feel any lumps, but check again just in case.  Good luck!

I AGREE WITH THE WOMAN ABOVE, MAYBE IN A BF GROUP THEY'D KNOW?  MY ONLY OTHER THOUGHT, CALL THE DR'S OFFICE BACK AND ASK...AND IF YOU DONT THINK YOU SHOULD WAIT THAT LONG, ASK TO BE BUMPED UP OR IS IT SOMETHING THAT YOU SHOULD GO TO THE ER TO GET CHECKED OUT IF THE DR CAN'T SQUEEZE YOU IN.   ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU ARE BF'ING, I'D MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS OK....IF IT DOESNT TASTE MILKY (AND IM ASSUMING YOUR DH KNOWS HOW YOU NORMALLY TASTE) THEN ARE WE SURE YOUR SON IS GETTING THE NUTRIENTS HE NEEDS FROM IT ANYWAY?

I saw your jornal was out here via your thread; this is WEIRD! Mama, I'd talk to your doctor and pronto---things moving around, your milk tasting different ("not milky")....maybe it's something as 'small' as mastitis (do you have any feverish feelings in all of this?) or maybe it's something a lot larger, not to be a paranoid freak, but I've trolled these boards now for almost 8 months and have not seen/read what you described!!! I don't think wed is too long---though I'd call 2x a day to see if anyone else had cancelled to get you in asap since you're in pain. I'm SO sorry mama.....
