This isn't what I thought would happen.
When I was 18, I planned, among other things, about moving to Australia (just 'cause I could); following Rammstein and Zombie and Metallica on tour; spending all my money on tattoos and Crayola-colored hair dye; and surviving on nothing but Pepsi and McDonald parfaits. My beloved car, a run-down Dodge Spirit, was lovingly plastered with hundreds of bumper stickers and the upholstry was painted with bright silver stars. I didn't believe in God. I hated children.
Now at 25: I plan, among other things, about buying a season pass to Cedar Point (I've already got one for the zoo); I watch lots of music videos on YouTube and go to the Christian-metal concerts nearby (since it's appropriate for my daughter); I spend nearly all my money on thousands of bills (with juuust enough left over for purple hair dye); and I live for Pepsi. And peaches. And Pisanello's pizza. And since my beloved car exploded, I'm driving the minivan I bought from my mom, which eats gas like a fiend, is wonderfully comfortable. Bumper stickers? Hells no - I'll ruin the paint! And I love kids - but I love my PudgePudge the best.
Comments:
I AM old, drive a mini-van with stickers, and am still trying to figure out what I am going to be when I grow up--LOL!!!!
I guess I'm weird because I loved my minivan. We bought it when I was 24 and 6 months pregnant with our 2nd child. My 3rd child was born when I was 25 (almost 26) and I had been a SAHM for 2 1/2 years. Now I'm 31, still a SAHM, have 4 kids now and that same mini-van is sitting out front of the house but it won't start so I drive my husband's awesome F-150 pickup. It rocks and seats 6 but sucks gas like crazy.
But I never had grand plans in life. I just wanted to get married (did that shortly after turning 23) and have a family (which we started a few months later).
I still know everything. Inside, I remain a cocky little biatch.
Hum, it shows.
(Guess I hung onto my cocky little biatch too!)

Loved your post and related to it so much. Im 26 and have 3 kids and refuse to drive a mini fan because I fear that will be the end of my youth. I use to have a mustang and had all the usual bumper stickers such as "we are the people your parents warned you about" and what not. Now my SUV has stickers like "proud parent of an honor roll student" sometimes you just have to ask yourself "WHEN THE HELL DID I GROW UP??"
