So, phase II of our MASSIVE remodel has begun.  We accomplished Phase I just before the twins were born that involved 3 bedrooms, including knocking down walls, installing wood floors, crown moulding and painting EVERYTHING.  Phase I 1/2 is still in progress as we have not found a solution to our plumbing issues in one bathroom.  We have not had a bathroom sink in one bathroom for over 6 months!  It is amazing what you get used to.

But yesterday began the BIG ONE!  The kitchen, living room, dining and family room combo remodel.  So, starting tonight, I will be without the comforts of a kitchen for who knows how long.  My optimistic hubby says one week.  I secretly laugh at him when he conveys such pipe dreams.  We do all of this ourselves so at least we have major incentive and motivation to get it all done ASAP which would not be the case if we had contractors.

So, the good news, I don't have too cook!  Anything besides what can go in the microwave, that is.  The bad news, no dishwasher!  We will muck up the environment of course using paper plates, plastic cups and utensils and enough TV dinners and take-out containers to make a huge pile in a land fill.  But the BOTTLES!  I'll have to was them all Xs TWO, twins, in the one bathroom sink we do have.  Which, I might add is a pedestal sink.

The twins and I are confined to a space no bigger than a small bedroom, just big enough to hold a TV (can't miss The Wonder Pets and The Office), a couch and of course, their toys.  So, far we are doing okay with it, as in 4 hours and counting!  But in the end it will SO be worth it.  If only you could imagine the before.  I can't even begin to describe the place.  Picture BADLY painted white EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING even the kitchen cabinets, concrete floors (yes, I said concrete) painted (with huge chips) a sea foam green, exposed sheet rock, a RED 70s fireplace,  1970 GENERAL MOTORS stove and oven (I am serious, going to contact GM and see if they'd like to buy these dinosaurs), oh, I could go on and on.

Let's just say I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE AFTER!!!!  I am so excited to finally have a pretty interior.  Wish us luck.

Apr. 5, 2007 at 5:40 PM Wow....what a huge project!!! But you are right, it will be so worth it in the end! I hope you survive in your small little space! Good luck and I hope it doesn't take too long! The bottle washing situation is what would scare me!!! Too bad they don't make styerfoam (sp?) bottles that you could just easily toss...LOL!  We went through some changes when we moved into our house....nothing like you are doing, but we repainted and now doing construction in our basement to add another bedroom and bathroom....it is a pain and I hate the mess!!!! But it's so pretty when it's all done! Hang in there...someday you will have that gorgeous interior you are so anxiously waiting for!!!
