I love birthdays despite the fact that I am turning an age I never imagined I'd be. I'm 32 today, which makes me feel kinda old. Dh reminded me last night that 32 is sexier than 31. He's such a sweet-heart.

Still, when your sister's kids are in college, out of high-school or in high-school, you no longer feel hip and youthful because they laugh at you using "old people" terms. When your child can read phrases like "cavity potection" and "superior judement", you feel your age. And when parts of your body you didn't ever give a thought to start aching or get stiff, well, you know you aren't in your 20s anymore. When you ask for wine accessories instead of a beer bong or any other kinda bong, you are mature. When people give you appliances, forget it- you're old.

Bring it on, I say. I kinda like being a little older and I will have no shame when it comes to birthday cake. This past year was hard, so I deserve an extra big peice for surviving it. As you get older, you realize no one is going to give you what you think you deserve. If you think you've earned some sort of treat, you stop waiting for someone else to recognize it. Instead you give it to yourself with pleasure.

Here I come, cake!!

I had a little chat with Dh, with his mom's help, about presents. I pointed out that I did not need a new mop, broom, skillet, coffee maker, vaccuum or other household good. I also reminded him of that Simpsons episode where Homer buys Marge a beautiful inscripted bowling ball for her birthday. Marge didn't bowl and the inscription read "Homer".

Well, I got a better gift than a bowling ball, but it there was some trace of "Homer". Dh gave me video games and accessories. I love video games, but he got me 2 he really wanted, but I could take it or leave it and one that  I really had wanted. Regardless, I'm sure we will have wicked fun with them. We always do and that's the best gift of all. And since I didn't have much to give him on his birthday, I can share.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Dh and may be both getting a gift for my birthday. That's okay, because, again, I can share. I took my last pregnancy test this morning, after I'd been up for a couple of hours. I didn't do anything fancy like restrict fluids or anything. I ended up with faint line on my test.

At first I thought I was just crazy, finally losing my mind after 2 years of staring at sticks. But I couldn't stop seeing the line. I still see it. I'm hoping its not some kinda freak occurence. I'm hoping its really real. So, I'm picking up more tests after we get done at the beach!! What a gift that would be!!

I totally know what you mean about the whole getting older thing.. I am only 21, by all means I am not old. But I do remember when I was younger and would tell my parents who were in their 30's that they were old.. lol.. After having 2 kids and being with my sons father for going on 5 years and life seems to be flying by and now when I see turning 30 I know that it is right around the corner from me.. :) You are not old!

Keep us updated on the pregnancy thing! Congrats if you are! :)

ZOMFG!!!!!! I had a FEELING!!!!! Lemme know!! Im super excited over here, crossing my fingers for you!

Im turning thirty in a month and 3 days. I ache after a run that I used to be able to do twice as long at half my age. 32 isnt old either! We are still young but without all of those hang-ups that the younger ones have about self-discovery and crap. Im getting a WREATHE to put over my fireplace in the spring. yay. Im still waiting for my Walmart granny shoe specials from my mom which isnt as funny as it is serious since my feet hurt when I do hair. The humanity.

STILL YOU SAW A LINE!!!! Maybe your hormones are just now able to register on that test? That is completely possible....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
