So, I ordered a TV for my husband's birthday from Buy.com. It was a great deal and according to the website it was "in stock" and would ship in 1-2 days, arriving in 3-5 business days. Cutting it a little close since his birthday was a week away, but he knew it was coming, so I figured it would be OK if it was a day or so late. Since I hadn't received any email confirmation of shipment by Friday (I had placed the order the previous Saturday, so it had been almost a week), I decided to check the status on their website. It was still showing as "sent to warehouse", meaning it had not been shipped. I emailed, called, emailed again and called again over the course of the weekend and the following Monday and Tuesday. No one could tell me why it had not shipped or when they expected it to ship, or anything else about my order. So, I cancelled it. And they shipped it today. Obviously, I should have cancelled it a week ago since it took my cancelling the order before they bothered to ship it. My husband did some research on the internet and apparently, this sort of situation is not unusual. He found blog after blog saying the exact same thing. And when those people returned the items, buy.com claimed they never received them back and therefore did not give them their money back. Perhaps that is why they can sell stuff so cheaply, they simply keep the money for items that have been returned. I'm so pissed. If I am home when the shipment arrives, I can reject it. Otherwise, I have to either keep it or risk sending it back. We're leaning toward keeping it, because it saves us from having to go out and find another one and he does want the TV. But I'm so irritated that I would get my business. So, I'm venting here in the hopes of preventing anyone else from having to deal with this crap. Still not sure what we'll do. Wish me luck.
