UPDATE ON MY COUSIN..

My Aunt shot out an email today.. Just thought I'd post an update.... Thanks to all who have read my journals on him and prayed or sent positive thoughts...
Kyle is hanging in there, BP is up and down and they have to tweak his meds.
fluids to keep it up. The kidney machine is getting a lot of water off him which
makes his BP go down. He has lost 22 lbs. of water mostly. He got a nose feeding
tube yesterday. They started very slowly giving him fluid to see if it will stay
down and go through the system.It has stayed down but nothing coming out so far.
Doctors said it may take a while gut needs to wake up. He has been opening his
eyes more for us. He looks at us but I'm not sure some times if he is focusing
on us. He will squeeze hands on command sometimes not all the time. I hold his
hand a lot and he squeezes it very hard. Not sure if that is him or a hand
response to clamp down . I hope its him wanting a connection. I hope in the next
days he will get more alert and clearer thinking. They ask him if he is in pain
and he shakes his head no. But he also gets to moving his head no and then up
and down yes. Not sure what to think. Doctors keep telling us they are amazed he
is here and making progress even at a slow rate. Liver is still putting out to
much Bilirubin that can also keep drugs in his system because they are not
getting filtered out. It also can make a person have impaired brain functions.
They started him on Cellcept a med he has been on before to suppress the Graft V
Host disease in hopes to bring down the bilirubin and make his liver work right.
Every day there is something to deal with. His stomach incision is not closed
they left it open for less risk of infection. The healing skin is dry and
brownish should be red and sort of bloody. The surgeon will take off the vacuum
pac dressing today and decide if he wants to debride clean it out or not today.
Well day number 15 has come and it all blurs together. Jp and I taking turns at
night, one stays the other goes to the Hope Lodge 10 min. down the street to
shower and get undisturbed sleep. We are holding up just very worried about Kyle
every minute. I have not been home except 2 hours one day since he got here.
Well enough for now, sorry not calling enough trying to keep down long distance
charges. Jp or I will try to email as much as we can. Love Dawn JP Mandy and
