o.k. So my husband got laid off this week...

Yeah, so Thursday was the last day of my husband's job. The company had laid off many people a month before- He was 1 of 3 people left in his department! We were thrilled, but knew that his whole job situation was still pretty shaky. Well a month goes by and he still had his job- so we were happy- but here comes the first red flag - he mentioned that there was talk of one of his coworkers getting laid off. Which left me asking him "Well, if people are talking about him, how do you know that they aren't talking about you as well?"  He assured me he was safe. ok then second red flag - he had tons of work to do the first half of the week- TONS- so this also raised me to question "Are they giving you tons of work because they need it all done before they give you the boot?" Again he assured me he was safe. So, then here comes Thursday... The head of HR comes to talk to him and tells him that his boss is one the phone in the confrence room and wants to talk to him - yes, this is the third and final flag! As my hubby goes in and talks to his boss, his boss says that he is so sorry, but he has to let him go! So it was 2:00 in the afternoon and I hear some one trying to get in the house so I run to the door... it was my husband... the second he opens the door I say "you laid off?" he says "yup"   I cry...

Ok, so yeah the whole losing the job sucks!! BIG TIME! But the worst part about it is that him and his boss were friends- It was more then just boss/employee! He assured my husband that he would let him know in advance if it looked like he was going to lose his job. (His boss is the third highest in the company and knows all the going ons) But what makes this so horrible, is that the boss new the company was going south and still let my husband and I purchase our first house just over two months ago!! Who does that?? Not only that But he was on vaction and called my husband and laid him off over the phone!!! I'm sorry am I alone? Or is this just wrong?? Thanks for letting me vent!

This is soo wrong  since they are friends he should have said something!I am soo sorry! You dont deserve this!I meant to write you sooner when I got your message but I have lots going on to....Your so kind  and im sure veerything will work out for you!Good luck and I wish you well!

The same thing happene to me. I was friends with my boss and the copany started to fall. Iworked in homebuilding. She kept telling me I was safe. Basically they laid off about 15 people within one year. My job started getting easier towards the end because I had no bills to pay except overhead. I actually started cleaning out my office that week and long and behold Jan. 30th they call me and 4 others into an office and they say that we are being laid off. I was upset but also happy at the same time. Because I loved my job and the people I worked with but also I wanted to be with my kids. So it was a win win situation. But you never know who your friends really are until something likethis happens. I found out that they have someone that has taken my position while my old boss went on Maternity leave. But when she went back to work the girl was let go. I worked my but off there so I was a little upset about that but we all know that Homebuilding is in a rough patch right now. I am enjoying my time at home right now.

Yes it was wrong! I am so sorry to hear this! I stopped by your page to get some info on your business, and then read this! I hope you will be ok! The housing market is in a terrible state...are you going to be able to keep it?

Sep. 4, 2008 at 2:53 PM Thanks ladies! My hubby is searching for a job and had an interview last week- he is actually suppose to hear from them today! So I continue to pray that the job hunt will be over soon! We are currently not in trouble of losing our home- so as long as he can find a job in the next month or two- we should be fine!
