Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. or at least I did in high school. I played a Bass Clarinet for eight years until I graduated high school then I has to give it up because it was a borrowed instrument. It killed me to stop, it was the only reason I went to school. I often left or made a trip to the nurses office after Band for the first 3 years of school. That class probably saved my life a few times, more than once it beacame my will to live.
I started in 5th grade after I develope a crush on a boy in my 4th grade class in a previous school. I wanted to play the trumpet but my parents just separated and my mom couldn't afford to buy one so I had to borrow an instrument. all that was left was the bass clarinet. I didn't like it at first and it was bigger than me. Eventually I was hooked. I was so into playing that I even tried marching band where I played the tenor sax badly.I only did that one season, I was just plain embarassed every halfime. I could go up on stage with just a couple of other kids and feel like it was totally natural but to put me out on the field with 50 to 100 other kids and I wanted to crawl under a rock.
I miss playing every day. just to sit and focus on something other than my life and completely isolate myself in my mind seems like heaven now.
