Nearly 3 years ago Hurricane Rita took aim at my hometown of Lake Charles, La. She forced her way on shore leaving damage and chaos in her wake. In the aftermath our home had damage, but not alot. A few broken windows and roof damage, and of course water damage, and no electricity for nearly 3 weeks....so MOLD. We stayed at my parents house in Texas throughout, because my twins were only 9 months old. When the electricity did come back on on the third week it sparked and our home burned to the ground. We have fought insurance and government agencies for 3 years in order to see some money so that we may rebuild our lives...Thats right 3 years and we are still in Plano. My husand has been working back home for 4 months now and me and the kids are over here while I am in school. SO now the thing we dread the most is another HURRICANE...Well Hurricane Gustov may just be that one. He is taking aim at the Louisiana coast and my husband and all of our family AGAIN. The property damage is never a concern, but not knowing where your family is during a natural disaster is agonizing and stressful. During RITA it was 2 days before we heard from anyone. We had no idea what to think. Thank GOD for Text messaging. Because that was the only thing that worked. Please pray for my family and everyone living on the Gulf Coast.
