Dear John McCain,
I see you have announced Sarah Palin as your running mate. You're aiming for the "suburban mom" vote, and also the undecided Hillary supporters.
What you've failed to realize is that women are not as vapid and stupid as apparently you think we are. We don't just vote based on gender, and the fact that someone is a mother. We have a LITTLE more depth and thought than that.
Your selection is a woman who is a mother, yes. A mother who gave birth to a Down Syndrome infant, and returned to work three days later, even though she HAD the choice for a decent maternity leave. Her insurance is fantastic and provided by her husband, so I doubt she actually recognized the plight of special needs children to really get the help they actually need, especially when she's able to hire help.
She participated in multiple beauty pageants. While that may be the kind of woman you relate to, it's hardly the image that most mothers relate to.
It's nice that she got a degree in journalism and worked as a newscaster. It's fantastic that she's the youngest governor in Alaska history. We do, however, realize that you've done nothing other than insult Obama's experience, when your new VP pick has less than two years as governor (she's been in politics about as long as Obama's been running for president!), in a town with less than 10,000 residents. It's slightly hypocritical, is it not? She is also quoted saying, "I don't know what the Vice President does."
A pro-life, pro-death penalty advocate, who has a lifelong NRA membership. She is anti-gay marriage "but has gay friends, and understands [their plight]."
So, she does share your values, John McCain, but I think you fail to understand that the fact that she's female and has children does NOT mean she's a good candidate that women will relate to, nor will she "secure the suburban mom vote" or the "Hillary Supporters." Hillary supporters supported her as she is a strong, brilliant, respectable woman who really fought for the opportunities she had. She worked SO hard to make history getting as close to being the Democratic nominee. What a disgrace to history it would be if Mrs. Palin would be the first female in the White House without having done anything to earn it and was only chosen to try and take swing votes, not because she had the skills, knowledge, judgement or desire to do so. How disgraceful, both to Hillary Clinton herself and to women in general, to have the first woman in office be JUST a win tactic, and nothing more.
It'd be nice, McCain, if you'd respect women's ability to actually think beyond gender.
Sincerely,
A woman, mother, and Hillary supporter, who is now voting for Obama.

I was coming to write something similar, but you have captured what I was going to say much more beautifully! thanks for takig my thoughts and making it sound less like a rant!
Hummmm....
So do you think if Hillary won the nomination...McBushCain would have found the one black guy in the GOP for his running mate?

Probably. :)
I would never vote for anyone running with a woman that is a misogynist. Which is all Sarah Palin.
I do not respect her choices, politics, lax parenting of her own child, and if he thinks he is going to get this Hilary Supporter... He is out there. I will be voting for the democratic nominee Barack Obama.
Hell I would vote for BOZO the CLOWN if that is who the Democrats nominated!@
OMG this is brilliance....I was wanting to make a similar post today but you pretty well covered it. The obvious ploy of snatching up the first woman he could think of for VP was insulting enough, not to mention the other things that you mentioned.
